Back on Sept. 26 a reader asked for an update on Bacio Pizzeria coming to 81 Seaton Pl, NW in Bloomingdale. At that time we learned they’d be opening in about six weeks. And they were true to their word! Thanks to everyone who sent emails about the opening. According to their Web site initial hours will be:

“Monday thru Friday: 4pm – 10pm
Saturday & Sunday: 11am- 10pm”

You can see their menu here.

We’ll come back for a proper judging after they’ve been open a bit.

“Dear PoP,

The Bacio Pizzeria storefront now has an overhang with bacio pizzeria printed on it. Have you heard any update on their progress?”

Back in May ’11 we first Bacio Pizzeria was coming to 81 Seaton Pl, NW in Bloomingdale. I’ve spoken with the owner a few times who said the delay was caused by some Pepco problems but that has now been resolved. They are just waiting on finalizing their Certificate of Occupancy and hope to open their doors in about a month to 6 weeks.

The owner, a really nice guy who also runs Green Paws in the upstairs space, said at first the space will only serve full pies and salads. Also, at first, it will be for pick up only but if there is enough demand they could add delivery. Also if there is enough demand they could add pizza by the slice.

So out of curiosity for those that live nearby would you like to see pizza offered by the slice?

Back in Aug. ’11 I was able to get a pre-preview of Boundary Stone coming to 116 Rhode Island Avenue, NW in Bloomingdale.

At the time I could only get a taste of how cool the place was going to look. Now it is confirmed how cool this place looks:

In August we were told that they’d definitely be opening in Autumn – and as you can feel it the air Autumn has arrived. Boundary Stone has received their C of O yesterday and pending a few more final details they could open as early as this Friday or possibly later next week. I’ll be sure to update/tweet an exact date when it is chosen.

Back in August we got a look at the menu but here’s a look at the beer list:

This is one of the bars where your jaw just drops when you enter because of the transformation. For those that live in the area this should take a little sting out of the Shaw’s Tavern debacle. Boundary Stone is a big score for Bloomingdale.

A few more shots of the inside, including an old school juke box, after the jump. (more…)

The flier says:

“THE SKY’S THE LIMIT IN THIS PENTHOUSE LOFT! Two bedrooms, two baths, private rear deck & parking! Rustic exposed brick & iron railings juxtaposed against traditional moldings, handsome hardwoods & vaulted 18-foot ceilings with skylight. Gourmet kitchen with granite & stainless. Extra loft space. Full-size W/ D. Close to Metro, Rustik Tavern & 2 cafes. 24-HOUR NOTICE–CALL TENANT.”

You can find more info here and a virtual tour here.

Since I was away last week I wasn’t able to get prospective GDoN candidates (I’ll get more this afternoon) so I’ll echo this great one spotted by Urban Turf. This 2 bed/2 bath is going for $445,000 ($200 monthly condo fee.) Sound right?

A few weeks ago a reader requested we judge B & J BBQ located at 238 Rhode Island Avenue NW. So I guess the question is simple – how’s the BBQ?

Last Saturday, Bloomingdale hosted their Third Annual Art Walk (which was awesome) and I ran into the owners of Boundary Stone. We last noted that construction had started at their space at 116 Rhode Island Avenue, NW. I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the space (and while it’s not quite photo ready) you can really see it starting to come together. One photo I begged to take – and finally wore them down – is the great tin ceiling:

Another super super cool feature is that they got their electrician to hook up the big Sylvan sign out front. They have a switch in the bar so whenever you see the Sylvan sign lit you’ll know the bar is open.

Speaking of when the bar is open – while I couldn’t get an exact date – I was able to get “definitely in Autumn 2011”.

And more good news – here’s a sneak peek at part of the menu:

Boundary Stone Menu

Sound good?

And for beers they’ll have cans and drafts. You’ll be able to get a $3 can of Bud, a $7 20 oz Guinness and lots of others including from the 21st Amendment Brewery, DC Brau, Brooklyn Lager and many many more. Not to mention all of the whiskeys they’ll have…

Stay tuned.

In the meantime you can stay updated by following them on twitter @BoundaryStoneDC and checking their facebook page here.
