If memory serves most of the readers here aren’t huge fans of the jumbo slices of pizza on 18th Street, NW in Adams Morgan but this is still a fun video. I was able to get an early viewing of the video and it was def. interesting to learn about the brothers who own these pizza joints and battle each other for jumbo slice supremacy. So if you have cable it’s worth a viewing. From a press release:
Food Wars Summary
There’s a debate brewing across the country with legions of loyal fans passionately defending the local eateries and the iconic dishes that make their towns famous. Travel Channel’s newest show, Food Wars, sets out to find the country’s most celebrated dishes – foods that define destinations and create local rivalries spanning generations – and settle the debate, “Who makes the Best Dish in Town?” once and for all.Rivalry Details – Washington, D.C.
There is a FOOD WAR raging in WASHINGTON, D.C. JUMBO SLICE and PIZZA MART both claim to serve the best extra-large slice of pizza perfection. On Tuesday, April 13 at 10PM (E/T), Travel Channel and host Camille Ford are on a mission to settle this feud, naming a victor in this jumbo slice standoff once and for all.

The popular bike shop Rollin Cycles has opened up in their new digs at 1314 14th Street, NW.

And the space between the Reef and Bukom Cafe on 18th Street has become a tattoo parlor.

Well Kokopolis, located at 2305 18th St NW in Adams Morgan, has been closed for renovations for quite a while now. I’ve been wondering if they would remain a pool hall/bar or change their theme. They have just applied for a new Alcohol Beverage License under the trade name Muzette. The application says:
“The licensee requests an Entertainment Endorsement with Karaoke in their 9 rooms.”
That’s a lot of Karaoke rooms. I’ll be sure to update when they open.

Bourbon on 18th Street continues to produce the most incredible chalk art in the city. You can find the last example here.

My all time favorite house numbers from Adams Morgan.

This apartment is located at 1801 Clydesdale Place, NW:
The Craigslist ad says:
”
My studio apartment is available for immediate move-in at $1095 a month. The details are below, but, suffice it to say, this apartment is great. My favorite part is its perfect location; the apartment is in a quiet, beautiful, and safe neighborhood, but it’s also 5 minutes away from 18th and Columbia, the main downtown area of Adams Morgan. 18th Street is alive on weekends because of its many restaurants, cafes, and clubs. Most importantly, the apartment itself is beautiful, with hardwood floors, great sunlight, and a nice view.”
Given yesterday’s request for suggestions of where to look for around $1000, this one jumped out at me. Think $1095 sounds good?

I don’t know what it is about wine shops on 18th Street, NW but they are placing the bar pretty high for new city signs. A.M. Wine Shoppe is located at 2122 18th Street, NW.
