Any word on what’s up with The Cajun Experience on 18th Street in Adams Morgan? Their website is down and no one is answering the phone. Also, the recent Yelp reviews are horrible. I used to really like this place and I had high hopes for them, but I can’t seem to figure out what happened! I have a LivingSocial deal for this place…guess I’ll try to get a refund.

We judged the Cajun Experience back in March 2011. We we first learned that they would open in the old Inti Peruvian space by Lauriol Plaza back in Dec. 2010.

Thanks to all who sent photos of the Pleasant Pops Farmhouse Market and Cafe signage at the former Rita’s space in Adams Morgan. Back in March we learned:
“What is the Farmhouse Market & Cafe?
Inspired by DC area farmers’ markets, our vision is to create a year-round community market and gathering place in the heart of Northwest DC. We’ll feature a selection of seasonal local produce, dairy, farm goods, sandwiches, locally roasted coffees, and our original pop creations.”
Looks like their kickstarter campaign raised $26,366. Well done.

“Buffalo LA Pizzeria is being replaced by…another pizza place. Absolute Kabab Pizza has taken up residence at 2005 18th St, NW.”
Pitazzi was located in the basement at 1824 Columbia Rd, NW. They opened up in the old 90 Minute Cafe space back in Aug. ’10. We judged them back in Oct. 2011.
2441 18th St, NW
In late May Sakuramen opened in the former Jumbo Slices and Kabob space at 2441 18th St, NW in Adams Morgan. You can see their menu here. Any must order items?
2450 18th St, NW
Back in Dec. 2011 McNasty’s opened up at 2450 18th St, NW in Adams Morgan. In early April 2012 the owners explained the origin of McNasty’s.
Apparently the explanation wasn’t good enough because we now have a new name for the ever changing 2450 18th St, NW – it is now Shenanigans Irish Pub. And the old logo has also been changed to a much friendlier looking leprechaun:
1787 Columbia Road, NW
Back in May 2010 we learned that the Urban Sustainable gardening store was planning on coming to 1787 Columbia Road, NW in Adams Morgan. Their Web site explained:
Our passion at Urban Sustainable is to promote the transformation of the urban resident into the urban farmer by providing the highest quality, best service, and widest selection of innovative growing supplies. With new technologies, cutting-edge growing techniques, and years of experience, we educate local communities on the value of growing food for personal consumption, and we provide everything they need to make the garden of their dreams a reality. Our ultimate aim is to facilitate sustainable, environmentally conscious living through urban agriculture.
On Wed. June 13th they announced that they have closed:
“Urban Sustainable is now CLOSED! We are relocating soon to the mid-west, look for details to be posted shortly.”
Prior to Urban Sustainable, 1737 Columbia Road was home to a locksmith.

A couple weeks ago we learned that Mudbugz Creole Eatery and Lounge had moved into the former Marrakech Lounge space in Adams Morgan. A reader sends word that the Mudbugz sign has vanished. Very strange. It was closed when I stopped by to check it out. Anyone else hear what happened?
