Every winter I look forward to the leaves falling so I can see this house again. I love it every time I pass it. From Porter St, NW heading towards Cleveland Park.

I thought this was a good looking (I think) new(ish) renovation near H St, NE.

Though I can’t support the house numbers:

A very common rowhouse from Truxton Circle. Until you notice one great detail by the door:

Yesterday, we looked at the old Embassy of Cameroon on Mass. Ave. A reader was kind enough to send in some photos courtesy of The Historic American Buildings Survey, part of the National Parks Service. They are awesome.

Great to hear the embassy will be restored to its original glory.

This is the former Embassy of Cameroon. Despite the flag flying, it is now vacant but you can still see how amazing the building is. I hope somebody saves this beauty soon. It’s way too amazing to be sitting vacant for too long.

One of the great things about living in DC – all the history. I was surprised at how modest this house was. Pretty impressive former inhabitants:

It’s impossible for me not to marvel at this house whenever I pass it. And I actually discovered a new detail that I hadn’t seen before:

Couple more classic close ups from Kalorama after the jump. (more…)

This would be a sweet row house in its own right but if you look closely it’s got a sweet sculpture that’s hard to notice from the street. Normally you see sculptures like this right above or near the door – it’s pretty rare to see one this high up on the house. It makes me dig it that much more. It’s from the Kalorama/Adams Morgan area.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget how many positive changes we’ve seen in the past few years. Last weekend I was admiring this renovated home on 13th St, NW in Columbia Heights when I remembered how crazy it used to look. By luck I was able to find it in the archives from May ’08. Below is what it used to look like – nuts, right?
