Ed. Note: You are so lucky – the squirrels decimated my fig tree and left the shards on my stoop just to taunt me…

Another amazing haul from Mt. Pleasant.

Congrats to Roshani from Petworth.
“I also created a recipe for my garden haul.
Spicy Harvest Noodles
1. Boil water and put a packet of soba noodles or another thin noodles variety. After they are cooked, rinse in cold water and set aside.
2. Fry garlic and serrano peppers in oil (just a pinch since they can be quite hot.)
3. Add sliced summer squash, carrots and thai eggplant. Feel free to use whatever veggies you have. Cook on medium high heat.
4. Add tamari or soy sauce, sesame oil and pinch of brown sugar.
5. Add thai basil leaves if you have any.
6. Add in the noodles and add slightly more tamari.
7. Serve in a bowl and sprinkle roasted sesame seeds on top.”

Another amazing haul – this one from Trinidad:
“eggplants, green onions, cantaloupe, cucumber, cayenne peppers, figs, strawberries, basil and summer sweet tomatoes.”

Dina writes:
“Grown by my husband Jeff, this bounty includes Black Krim, Sweet 100 Cherry (red), Black Plum, Italian Heirloom, Yellow Cherry, Pink Cherry, Sungold Cherry, Brandywine. His LeDroit Park garden was a popular stop on last week’s Edible Urban Garden Tour as he discussed using square foot gardening to maximize the 59 sq. ft. around our backyard patio for all kinds of produce.”

This entry comes from:
“One week’s worth of goodies from our plot in Rock Creek Community Garden.”

“You can see the variety of tomatoes: Brandywine, Brown Berry, Egg Yolk, Mamie Brown’s Pink Berry, Black Krim, and Cherry. Also in the photo is a haul of Malabar Spinach, onions, some basil, one Bell Pepper and one red chili pepper. Our cat, Franklin, decided to investigate our bounty, but he was not interested in eating any of it.”
