Thanks to Nick for sending: “Following up on your past article about the Amazon Go coming to 14th street, an even larger (largest in the U.S.) one appears to be coming to the AVEC building at 8th and H street NE. Any news on when it may be opening up? Based on my quick peek inside it seems like much of the shelving is in place.” (more…)

Thanks to Emily for sending: “Le Pain Quotidien in Friendship Heights hasn’t been open since the pandemic started, and I guess that’s it for good…”

And thanks to Renee for passing on more bleak news in Friendship Heights from the Washington Business Journal, “Mazza Gallerie mall in Northwest D.C. faces a foreclosure sale”

Mazza Gallerie’s (5300 Wisconsin Avenue, NW) website says: “Since 1978 Mazza Gallerie has served as DC’s choice for upscale retail and entertainment. Boasting 3 levels of shops and eateries and a full level movie theatre, Mazza Gallerie is a premiere destination for fun and shopping.”

Updates when we learn what happens with the foreclosure.

“Dear PoPville,

We were longtime customers of wagtime with our rescue who had bad separation anxiety. Wagtime’s website now auto forwards to Dogtopia and there is no mention of wag 2 location. Did wagtime just sell, or go bankrupt or…? Curious if you can find more info. Our family and many other customers had prepaid packages with them too and have received no communication since they closed for the pandemic. If nothing else it would be helpful to know what happened.”

The New York Times reports this morning:
