Here’s another spot that I’ve always been curious about – Kalorama Deli & Grocery located at 1682 Kalorama Rd, NW. Here’s a sample of the menu:

I know I can probably just look this up but what’s scrapple? Some sort of pork dish? So, any fans of this spot?

Hahaha, this is awesome. Thanks a million to a reader for sending this in:

“Check out this photo of a restaurant getting ready to open up on the corner of 17th and R. I’m not sure what focus group told them the name “The Sacrificial Lamb” was a good idea…but I think we can all be excited about the impending deliciousness of kebabs and naan.”

The Peruvian Chicken & Steak spot located on Park Road just west of 14th Street, NW looks very close to opening. I peeked in the window last weekend and it looks like it could be ready to roll any day now:

I’m eager to check out the Peruvian steak, I’ve had Peruvian chicken before which I think is delicious so I’m super intrigued by the idea of Peruvian steak. Has anyone had Peruvian style steak before? What exactly makes it Peruvian, the seasoning?

Bread & Brew is located at 1247 20th St, NW. I think this spot used to house a Greek restaurant, right? I’m hearing that this is a great place. I’d never even heard of it before. How long has it been there? Anyone check it out? You can see the menu here. Any particular specialties that are a must order?

We learned a bit about the spot back in June but a small sign is up now and Washington Biz Journal did a write up:

“Diamond District Seafood will occupy about 6,700 square feet at 1608 14th St. NW, where retailer 100% Mexico used to be. The combination restaurant and seafood market comes out of a partnership Seaver forged early this year with restaurateurs Eli Hengst and Douglas Singer, the duo behind such concepts as Sonoma and Blue Ridge Restaurant.”

New restaurant, Osteria Bibiana, is coming to 1100 New York Ave, NW though it looks like the entrance will be on the back side on H Street, NW. It will be an “upscale Italian Restaurant” with a sidewalk cafe. I’m always happy to have more Italian options!

A new tavern called “Wired” is coming to 1015 1/2 7th Street, NW. The liquor application says, “New tavern offering snacks such as chips and cheese, live jazz music, DJ, karaoke and dancing. Occupancy load is 350”. Sounds pretty interesting.

And a bit further south at 406 7th Street, NW, Apartment Zero furniture store is moving. Their Web site says:

“Going forward, Apartment Zero will focus its resources on residential and commercial interior design, plus a dedicated office for contract sales to the trade (architects and interior designers). Apartment Zero will also be launching its e-commerce site offering a much larger and more exclusive range of products to a national audience in addition to the Washington DC area.

It has been our pleasure to serve you! We look forward to expanding our relationship with you now and in the future …. and who knows, perhaps you’ll see another retail concept pop up very soon.”
