Corado’s is located at 3217 Mt. Pleasant Street, NW. It’s funny I thought I had featured all the restaurants on this strip already but never noticed the Corado’s sign. Is it new? Anyway, how’s the food? Atmosphere?

Check some menus after the jump. (more…)

Thanks to a reader for the heads up. We’ve been anticipating the opening on 14th Street south of Rhode Island (near the 7-11) for quite a while. I stopped by Tuesday afternoon and the owner let me take some photos and sent me the menus (which may be tweaked a bit including adding more items). He said they are open as of 6:30pm on Tuesday evening and it will sorta be a soft opening. I have to say the space looks great.

There’s even an upstairs.

They also feature beers specially imported from Ghana (apparently the one in the middle really packs a punch).

You can see the menus (including a Vegetarian menu) after the jump. (more…)

Well this is completely wild. I had no idea that Axis Bar & Grill closed (their Web site is still working) at 1340 U Street, NW. Thanks to a tweet from @FrenchTwistDC indeed Bistro La Bonne has opened up in that space. Their Web site says:

“U Street finally has its own bistro! Chef Daniel La Bonne has long desired to create a French bistro with his personal touches, and Bistro La Bonne is his latest creation and personal vision. Chef Daniel has set a successful track record in opening and running several restaurants and bistros which earned 2.5 to 3 stars from the Washington Post and a place in the highly regarded Washington Post Dining Guide…

Chef Daniel invites you to join him in this comfortable and popular establishment. The delectable menu and accessible wine list should please anyone who walks into this homey bistro. Chef Daniel prepares menus for the brunch, lunch, dinner, and late night crowds. Chef Daniel La Bonne and the friendly staff will make your visit a quality neighborhood experience.”

You can see their menu here. I think this is great news. Will anyone miss Axis? Do you think a Bistro is a good fit for U Street?

We learned back in September that Asmara had closed its doors. Located at 900 Florida Avenue, NW (across the street from the 9:30 Club) this space, according to the alcohol license, will become Bella Restaurant featuring: “dancing and live bands”. More info as it becomes available.

Mezza Luna is located at 1140 19th St NW. While I’m normally averse to any establishment with Cowboys paraphernalia out front, I am always interested in learning of good places to watch sports. So in addition to the food is this a good place to catch a game as well?

Rogue States has applied for a liquor license at 1300 Connecticut Ave south of Dupont Circle. The description from the alcohol application says it will serve sandwiches and burgers. Sounds like it could be a good lunch option for those that work in the area.

Back in December we learned that Burritos Fast located at 3213 Mount Pleasant St NW, had closed. I’m happy to report that they have reopened on Saturday. They are still serving burritos and will remain Burritos Fast, the space looks identical to before closing, though the name could change in the future.

Wow, Masa 14 located at 1825 14th St, NW has only been only been open a few months and it’s already set to expand according to an alcohol beverage application. In addition to adding a summer garden they’d like to open up the second floor as well:
