The new restaurant, Terasol, will be located in the former Dahn Yoga Studio (across the street from Politics and Prose bookstore) at 5010 Connecticut Ave, NW. According to the liquor license application this will be an:

“Authentic French Cuisine for all ages with a seating capacity of 55 for patrons and a total occupancy load of 70. Request a sidewalk café with a seating capacity for 15 patrons and entertainment endorsement with live band, jazz, and classical music.”

The Dancing Crab is located at 4611 Wisconsin Ave. NW. Their Web site says:

“The Dancing Crab, a Washington Institution for over twenty years is family owned and operated. Serving the finest Hard Shell crabs from Maryland and Louisiana (when the big ones are not available in Maryland) for more than 35 years and located on the same corner! Known for the many famous visitors, this is the only true Maryland Style Crabhouse in Washington DC.

Come see the new The Dancing Crab space! We moved just next door!”

You can see their menu here. Anyone try out the new space?

I’ve heard many claim that Pho 14 (1436 Park Road, NW) has the best Pho within the city (not including Northern Virginia). I don’t doubt it because every weekend evening I’ve tried to go the place has been packed. Fortunately, a tipster gave me some very good news which I have confirmed on Tues. afternoon – Pho 14 is expanding next door into the former spot of Simply Soles at 1438 Park Road, NW. But that’s not all – Pho 14 will also be expanding their menu by 30-50 items. You can see their current menu here. When pressed for some additions they told me they’d be adding ‘hot pot’ which is when the food is cooked in the center of the table. Pending no trouble with permits, they’ll be taking down a wall to combine the two storefronts and hope to open the new space with the new menu in October. I think that’s a bit ambitious and will predict a Nov. expansion but all in all this is great news!

Italian Pizza Kitchen will be located at 2608 Connecticut Ave, NW in the building currently getting renovated and housing the Debonair Cleaners. It’ll be on the left hand side of this rendering:

Italian Pizza Kitchen currently has a location at 4483 Connecticut Ave NW. You can see their menu here. According to their liquor license application:

“Italian restaurant and pizzeria. Occasional karaoke – No nude performances. Sidewalk café with 24 seats. Seating capacity is 70. Total occupancy is 150.”

Nude karaoke certainly would’ve been interesting…

Locanda Restaurant located at 633 Pennsylvania Ave, SE has always been a mystery to me. It has been closed for years (I think, definitely many many months) but it looks like it was frozen in time with the table settings still in place:

The windows have now been papered over and a liquor license has been applied for. It says:

“Vietnamese restaurant serving lunch and dinner with a seating capacity for 49 patrons and total occupancy load of 49. Requesting a sidewalk café with a seating capacity for 10 patrons.”

I’m told the new owner is a former manager from Vidalia and he plans on opening the new spot in 3-4 months. It also worth noting that this is one of the best LLC names I’ve ever heard – Culinary Kung Fu, LLC. Awesome. More info as it becomes available.

Thanks to a reader for spotting this development. Just a couple of weeks ago we heard that was slated to open by the end of Nov. IHOP will be located on the Irving St, NW side of DC USA in Columbia Heights. Hope this doesn’t delay them too long. Looks like they just need to get a couple of permits:

According to the alcohol application the restaurant will be:

“New Restaurant serving American cuisine with a seating capacity of 24. Total occupancy load of 50. Occasional live music or DJ, no dancing or cover charge, and summer garden with 18 seats.”

The restaurant will be located at 1639 Wisconsin Ave, NW in one of those great row houses that line Wisconsin Ave. I’ll be sure to update when they open and the menu is released.

This is the new building off Washington Circle where we recently learned a Whole Foods grocery store will also be in the retail space. We judged the new building here.

But back to the restaurant, District Table/District Burger, according to their liquor license application this will be a:

“New Restaurant serving American brasserie fine dining menu with casual burger and shake menu. Seating capacity of 240. Total occupancy load of 290. Summer Garden with 50 seats and Sidewalk Café with 20 seats.”

Sound good? I’ll be sure to updated when construction is completed and they are closer to opening.

The Brickskeller is located at 1523 22nd St NW. I was talking to some folks about beer recently and the Brickskeller came up. I hadn’t been in years but always thought they had a pretty good reputation. The folks I was talking to couldn’t disagree more. So what do you guys think – good spot for beer? For food? How’s the service?

You can see their beer list here and their their menu here.

Again Adams Morgan shows it’s resilience with closings and openings. Looks like the old CD Exchange between Caliyogurt and Saki is going to become a restaurant. From peeking in the window they seem real close to opening. I’ll be sure to update with more info and a menu when they open.

Update: Thanks to a commenter for the heads up that this is a crepe place by the same folks who have a spot in Georgetown at 1062 Thomas Jefferson St NW.
