1317 Connecticut Avenue, NW

Dupont’s Jewish Deli is “wrapping up construction” at 1317 Connecticut Avenue, NW. The folks at DGS Delicatessen tell me that they are working on getting water service into the space (see photo above.) And while they couldn’t give me an exact opening date, on their facebook page they say – “We are trying our hardest to open the first week of November.”

And they got a new sign:

You can also still a sign for their namesake at 5th and Rhode Island Ave, NW in Shaw:

3125 M Street, NW

Another long time restaurant closing in Georgetown. @mienyu tweets:

“Tonight we close our doors for the last time after almost 10 years on M Street. Thanks for your patronage and support!”

Their website says:

“It’s hard to believe we’re closing our doors after almost 10 years on M Street. We’ve enjoyed sharing our unique food and beverage flavors with visitors near and far, and the whole Mie N Yu family has so greatly appreciated your support over the years. Thank you for dining with us, for welcoming us into your organizations, for spending a few extra moments with us at the bar. We’ll certainly miss being a part of Georgetown’s vibrant community.”

We judged Mie N Yu, located at 3125 M Street, NW, back in Aug. 2010.

A new restaurant from the owners of Cafe Bonaparte and Napoleon Bistro is coming to Georgetown. In mid-September they were looking for a mixologist:

“New dining destination, Malmaison, in Georgetown is looking for a qualified individual to run it’s mixology program at the bar. If you want to be a part of a brand new concept that pushes the envelope in the culinary scene in DC, then send us your resume and let’s chat about your possibilities. This is the third location for the group behind Cafe Bonaparte and Napoleon Bistro all boutique establishments that have terrific reputations in the city.”

A recent liquor license application posted out front lists a transfer from Gypsy Sally’s and says:

“Restaurant with a seating capacity of 224 seats transferring to a new location from Safekeeping. Total occupancy load of 284. Requesting an entertainment endorsement featuring live acoustic music with cover charge.”

34th and Water Street is near the Georgetown entrance/exit for the Capital Crescent Bike trail:

With word that Kraze Burgers is likely coming to Barracks Row it got me thinking about all the new burger options in town. I think it’s time to crown a new “best burger”. I was pleasantly surprised by an incredibly delicious burger I had last weekend. So I’m voting for The Big Board located at 421 H St, NE. I had the Ciao Bella – Sliced prosciutto, aged mozzarella, roasted San Marzano tomato & roasted red pepper aioli. Freaking delicious.

So for the Friday Question of the Day – where is your favorite burger in town?

1401 R St, NW

More new restaurants for Logan Circle/14th Street. Bari Bari will be located on the corner of 14th and R St, NW in the new PN Hoffman building (Northern Exchange.) The liquor license posted out front says:

“New European-style restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Inside seating capacity of 32, total Occupancy Load of 97, and Sidewalk Café with 52 seats.”

4th and H St, NW

We first heard about the Carving Room Kitchen back in Feb. 2012. Lots of folks have been asking about their progress – we’ve finally got a sign of life:

This is the spot that will serve “house cured and hand carved sandwiches”. It will be located next to Wiseguy NY Pizza at 4th and H Street, NW. Incidentally, looks like Wiseguy will also have Gimme! coffee:

415 8th Street, SE

I’m hearing some interesting rumors about the vacant space next to Chipotle on Barracks Row at 415 8th Street, SE. At one point this space was going to become a gourmet pizza joint but apparently that fell through. A tenant that I’m hearing is interested in the space is – Kraze Burgers:

Featuring made-to-order, hand-formed, fresh ground, all-natural, hormone-free beef, our meat is at the top of its class. Add to this, our fresh buns baked in our bakeries and our unique patented sauces, and you’ve got a diverse menu of burgers offering savory flavors only available at a Kraze Burgers restaurant. It is an innovative burger concept redefining the burger joint and making headlines wherever it goes.

But what makes Kraze Burgers truly special is that while we are devoted to making the best burgers around, we don’t just cater to meat-lovers! We also deliver the goods to our health conscious and vegetarian customers. We offer tofu burgers, veggie burgers, and a wide array of delicious salads. Our My Burger option lets you build a burger the way you like it. From proteins like turkey and tofu to special cheeses, grilled mushrooms, and pineapples…we’ve got you covered.

Anyone ever try a Kraze Burger before?
