Do you think it is harder to sell a house if it is painted in an unusual color like aqua blue even if the house is fresh on the inside? Would that affect your decision in purchasing a house?

Right now, street parking doesn’t seem to be a big problem. But I’ve often wondered if it would be worth it to put in a parking spot in my back yard. Lots of the rowhouses have spots that are accessible via the alleys. Do you think it is criminal to rip up some of your yard to pave it? Are we doomed to lose our plentiful on street parking as the Old Soldiers Home is developed and the many condos being built are completed?

I visited a really beautiful condo on 13th Street. It has an incredible view of the city, a very nice layout, big windows, an upstairs study and roof deck. Sounds pretty sweet, yeah? So what’s the catch? It was on the fourth floor and the building has no elevator. So if you don’t have kids no big deal yeah? There are many of these building in NYC that don’t have elevators. But I ask you: For over $400k in DC shouldn’t an elevator be included?

A reader just tipped me off to the fact that a home just sold on the 3500 block of New Hampshire Ave. for $659k. Do you think the success of Red Rocks and the burgeoning 11th St. corridor will help keep nearby homes at similar prices?

Beautiful renovation on Monroe St. near Columbia Heights Coffee. This is a corner unit that could of been destroyed with an ugly third floor addition but whoever did this job, did a fantastic job (at least from the outside). Has anyone checked out this place? Is it as nice on the inside as it is on the outside?

These are the condos being renovated across from Red Rocks on Park Road. How much are they going to go for? The potential seems fantastic.

This house is ridiculously awesome on Park Road right east of Red Rocks. It is huge. Apparently it was asking almost $1.4 mil on the sign out front but that was whited out. So what is it going for now? Do you think this mansion can go that high? I think it is absolutely badass and if I ever hit the power ball I may but a serious bid on it.

So have you walked by the New Hampshire House located on the 3500 block of NH? In almost every window facing the street it looks like they are under contract. The sign advertises Luxury condos with parking in the Mid-200s. Is that a good deal? Has anyone checked out these condos? What’s the verdict?

How come this house hasn’t sold yet? I love this house. It is located right off of New Hampshire on 7th Street. It is a very good looking house as you can tell. The flyer says it has 5 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. Is the asking price of $599,900 insane?

The New York Times has a great article on those who saved up and sacrificed much to purchase a home without the help of their parents. There were stories of those living off a single $2.95 chicken sandwich a day for years. Now,

I happened upon an interesting debate up in NYC over at the Brownstoner blog where there are lots of interesting comments. So, should we laugh at those who needed mommy and daddy’s help in purchasing a home in DC (P.o.P. included). Or is it great that the folks could help out? What are the stories here in DC? Were you able to purchase your home by sacrifice and savings or did you rely on outside help or are those two choices even mutually exclusive? Whenever a guest comes to my home and compliments my house, I always say, “the purchase of this house would not have been possible without a generous grant from the P.o.P’s Mom and Pop.” So, what does it take to buy a home in DC today?
