Thanks to Terry for passing on

The purpose of this event is to provide the Mt. Pleasant community with an in-person forum to learn more about their home value, the assessment process, and tax programs to reduce their tax bill. We feel this is a timely event because real property tax assessment notices are being mailed to District property owners this week. The event is scheduled to be held on Thursday, March 7 from 6:30 – 8:00pm. The presenters include:

Deputy Chief Financial Officer Keith Richardson
OTR Director of Operations Eva Liggins
Chief DC Appraiser Olufemi Omotoso
Tax Relief Specialist Jeffrey Toney

We will also have additional staff on hand in case attendees have other questions related to OTR. This is a great opportunity for OTR to directly engage with Mt. Pleasant”

So far in DC in 2018, there have been 430 co-op units sold, so they are fairly common here. Understandably, cooperatively owned units often get dismissed by prospective buyers due to four figure monthly fees. (Monthly co-op fees were brought up in comments on last week’s GDoN-R.) (more…)

Whereas everyone loves a Brookland bungalow, barrel top townhomes, located in SW DC’s Charles Goodman-designed River Park Mutual Homes community, get mixed reviews in PoPville. It seems people either love them or hate them. (more…)

Edgewood. We’ve talked about this neighborhood before, as recently as September, and in April.

True, it’s not quite Bloomingdale, not quite Brookland, not quite Eckington, and close to all three. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

My partner and I are under contract to purchase a home in Shaw and expect to close the 2nd week of December. We are planning a large renovation project before we move in and expect that process to take about 6 months. Currently, we own a condo in Bloomingdale that we plan on selling closer to when the renovation project is completed.

We recently received a letter from a real estate agent representing a potential buyer for our unit. (more…)
