“Attorney General Schwalb today announced the resolution of an investigation into Lyft concerning its failure to provide proper notice to consumers about fines the company imposed when scooters were parked improperly. Under the terms of a settlement agreement, Lyft will provide full restitution and return nearly $90,000 to affected scooter users. Lyft will also pay $20,000 to the District and has already made changes to its systems to ensure users are notified about DC’s scooter parking rules and notified of any fines imposed for parking violations. “Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser and Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Pamela A. Smith were joined by local and federal law enforcement partners to announce MPD’s new Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC). “Dear PoPville,

I live on a street with tight parking but a neighbor of mine has lived near me for over a year and has never registered their car (has temporary tags that expired in 2021). I’ve called MPD and they refer to parking enforcement then they said it’s a “Department of Public Works” issue and nothing happens. The neighbor drives the car everyday so I can’t refer to it as “abandoned.” I looked up its tags (more…)

Digging up kalorama at 17th for the second time in 30 days. Has to be the third or fourth time this year. Last time was gas, then they paved. Now it’s water, which I’m assuming will be followed by paving. Seems like usual maintenance but the timing is hilarious. Tempted to do some digging into this…”

As I was walking my dog, I heard a commotion around Newton and Brown Streets NW, saw someone moving some recycling bins, didn’t think anything of it, and kept walking toward Monroe. “Dear PoPville,

Assault with deadly weapon on Mt. Pleasant St NW on Sunday, November 19th at 12pm

On Sunday, November 19th at 12pm, I was sitting on the Sun’s Cinema patio on Mt. Pleasant Street NW with two friends. We were eating lunch with our two dogs when we were approached by an agitated individual known in the neighborhood.

The dogs began to bark, and this person became activated and started yelling threats. I was unable to de-escalate the situation. (more…)
