The guys from The Daily Rider on H Street (600 H St, NE) recognized my bike from the footage and photos I’d posted when someone brought it in to be fixed (it was either broken by the person/people who stole it, or by the person who bought my stolen bike), checked the serial number on Bike Index where I’d registered it as stolen, and called the police. 12:45PM today (Friday) I watched, dumbfounded, as 3 youths jumped out of a car and ran just 10 feet in front of me and hacked away at the glass, grabbed the goods jumped back in the car and sped off.” (more…)
“UPDATE: MPD’s ERT located two individuals inside the building. They have been detained and detectives are investigating. The were no other individuals located inside the building. No injuries reported.”

From MPD: “MPD is on the scene of a barricaded individual in the 900 block of U Street, NW. ERT has been requested to the scene. There are numerous road closures in the area.”
“Update: At approx 8:06 a.m., an MPD officer was flagged down for a potential armed robbery in the area of 8th Street & Florida Avenue, NW. It was reported that two potential suspects ran inside a building in the 2000 block of Georgia Ave and may be barricaded inside.” (more…)

My blue 2022 Gazelle Ultimate C380 Low 46cm Mallard e-bike was stolen from the corner of 7th & Q NW yesterday afternoon while I was having brunch at Ambar Shaw. The thieves used a portable grinder to cut through the lock. I have security camera video of the thief cutting through the lock and a lovely picture of him riding away on it! (more…)

“On February 14, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m., MPD’s Criminal Apprehension Unit arrived in the 5000 block of Hanna Place Southeast to execute an arrest warrant.
Officers attempted to make contact with an individual inside the residence to execute the arrest warrant.
The individual refused to come outside.
As officers attempted to gain entry, the individual opened fire on them. (more…)

“The Metropolitan Police Department has expanded its Amazon Lockers Program, adding two additional lockers at police stations in Northwest.
Residential package thefts have been an ongoing nuisance impacting neighborhoods citywide, with thefts occurring year-round. In 2022, MPD piloted the Amazon Lockers Program at the Sixth District’s main station and substation, making DC the first city in the nation to install community Amazon lockers outside of police stations.
