From the Mayor’s Office yesterday “in response to the drawings of swastikas found at Union Station, Mayor Muriel Bowser released the following statement”:
“This morning, commuters in the District of Columbia were met with the disturbing sight of swastikas drawn on our historic Union Station. This symbol of hate displayed in our city is both shocking and unsettling, particularly on the heels of International Holocaust Remembrance Day. (more…)

Update from MPD: “Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with Intent to Kill (Gun) offense that occurred on Thursday, January 27, 2022, in the 1400 block of Irving Street, Northwest.
At approximately 3:48 pm, members of the Third District responded to the listed location for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim, conscious and breathing, suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Upon arrival, Third District members located and arrested the suspect. A firearm was recovered on scene.
On Thursday, January 27, 2022, 18 year-old Christopher Frink, of Northwest, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Kill (Gun) and Carrying a Pistol without a License. (more…)

Update 5:01pm: “At approximately 2:42 pm, MPD responded to New York Avenue and Florida Avenue NE in reference to a shooting. A 13 year-old juvenile male and 14 year-old juvenile male have been arrested and three firearms have been recovered. This is an active investigation.
MPD announces an additional arrest of a 15 year-old juvenile male has been made in this offense.”
Update 4:27pm: “MPD reports First Street NE between New York Avenue and L Street NE will remain closed until further notice. All other related street closures are now open to traffic.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with Intent to Kill a Metropolitan Police Officer while Armed (Gun) offense that occurred on Sunday, January 23, 2022, in the 1300 block of Spring Road, Northwest.
At approximately 8:58 pm, on-duty, uniformed MPD officers were on patrol in the 1300 block of Spring Road, Northwest. The officers attempted to make contact with an adult male at this location. As an officer was exiting the vehicle, the suspect fired a handgun multiple times towards the officers. The suspect then fled the scene. An officer was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening gunshot wounds. (more…)
