Whoa, have you walked by the old Borders bookstore at 14th and F St, NW lately? The huge windows are not covered and reveal the much anticipated Hamilton (to be open 24/7 with an 800 person capacity) from the Clyde’s group:

Founding father, mover, shaker, lover & dueling politico, Alexander Hamilton’s vision for America helped it to become the world’s venue for opportunity and success.

Washington DC’s newest destination for music and entertainment is dedicated to celebrating the talent and passion of America’s best artists. DC is a city where polish and sophistication have been charmed by a bohemian spirit creating a new thriving artistic underground.

The Hamilton will offer local, national and international musicians the unique opportunity to entertain a city that is never short on opinions, all within earshot of The White House.

Check out the renderings of the music space here.

And here’s a glimpse from street level:

From an email:

“Bullitt (1968)
There are bad cops and there are good cops – and then there’s Bullitt.

Vanishing Point (1971)
Watch carefully because everything happens fast. The chase. The desert. The shack. The girl. The roadblock. The end.

Tighten your seat belt. You never had a trip like this before.

“Dear PoP,

I wanted to post a question to your readers on what the neighborhood would like to see open a Bistro Wine Bar or a Tavern. I am in the process of signing a lease in the Shaw Neighborhood and wanted a feedback from the community and will go with what gets the most votes either a Wine Bar or a Tavern.”

While we admired the new green paint job at Bar Pilar (1833 14th St, NW) a couple of weeks ago, I had no idea they’d be closing soon for the planned renovations into the 2nd floor. The Washington Post shared the word:

“Bar Pilar will close after this Sunday, Nov. 27, to allow construction work to begin on its long-planned second floor restaurant and bar, including the addition of a staircase in what is now the dining room. The closure will be indefinite, depending on how smoothly construction goes. Management hopes to reopen in time for New Year’s Eve.”

They also remind us that Standard (14th and S St, NW) only has 6 more days until they close for the Winter.

A recent liquor license application says the space at the corner of 12th and H St, NE next to Horace and Dickie’s will become a:

“New Tavern serving Mediterranean style food with 30 seats and occupancy load of 40. Request a sidewalk café with 40 seats. No entertainment.”

Frozen Tropics notes that this comes from the owners of Souk located at 1208 H St, NE.

Any fans of Souk?

I just hope they don’t paint over the mural:

According to a recent liquor license application, Xclusive will be a:

“New upscale international restaurant and lounge with diverse menu offering American, Caribbean and African select dishes. Entertainment includes live jazz, 3 man Reggae band, DJ, cover charge, dancing. Total occupancy load is 199. Total seating is 99 seats. Summer Garden has 14 seats.”

Ed. Note: This is right next door to 709 H St, NE which is set to become Po Boys Kitchen.
