It’s a sad day for Standard fans, located at the corner of 14th and S St, NW.

From an email:

“standard will be on thanksgiving vacation this week from monday –
thursday, but we’re firing up the smoker and the patio heaters again
friday 11/25 for 10 days of FUN before our last hurrah of the year on
sunday, december 4th
.

standard will be closed for the winter, from december 5th to march 1st.

thanks to our great customers and friends for a really fun year–we look
forward to seeing all of you before we close for the winter, and again
when we reopen on march 1st, 2012!”

Every since I noticed the $1 beer special at Hot N Juicy in Woodley Park, I’ve been a bit obsessed with finding more $1 beer options. I’m also obsessed with cedar shingles but that’s neither here nor there.

Anyway, it gives me great pleasure to share another find – Fiesta located in the old Taj Mahal space upstairs at 1327 Connecticut Ave, NW has a sweet deal. $1 Miller Lite drafts on Thurs. and Sat.

And as previously mentioned, if you don’t like Miller Lite you can go a few storefronts down to the Madhatter for $1 Bud light drafts on Thursdays.

The Raven, located at 3125 Mt Pleasant St, NW, is consistently voted one of if not the best “dive bar” in DC. But over the years there have slowly been some upgrades. In June 2009 booths from an old restaurant and some retro light fixtures were added inside. The exterior was given a facelift in Oct. 2010 and about a month ago they fixed up the back.

I kinda get a late 80s/early 90s vibe from it.

For fans of the Raven – do you like the extra space?

Is it still your favorite “dive bar” in DC?

Whew, this has been a tough one to find out fact from scuttlebutt

Finally word comes from the Adams Morgan BID:

“We learned last week that SoHo – Southern Hospitality – will be coming to the former Adams Mill Bar and Grill location at 1813 Adams Mill Road, NW. They will specialize in American fare with $10 small plates and $20 entrees to include salmon and filet mignon among many others.

They hope to be open in mid-December, depending on construction and permits, and look forward to being a part of the Adams Morgan community!”

Well, someone is happy that a Panera isn’t coming to this location:

Last Exit opened up in Apr. ’11 next to Tonic and under Radius at 3155 Mt. Pleasant St, NW. Their Web site says:

“Last Exit is an informal cocktail lounge located in Mount Pleasant DC. We feature unique cocktails, infusions, and specialty beers in a relaxed atmosphere. With its plush couches, chaise lounges, and intimate seating, Last Exit is a unique venue for private events and informal gatherings.”

You can see their menus here.

Any fans?

Funxion is located at 1309 F Street NW. Their Facebook page says:

“Phase II will include the most advanced functional food & beverage on the planet.” Aim high!

Not clear if Phase II will include changes to the space or not…

Good news for Four Fields (4Ps) fans in Cleveland Park – the Guinness still flows! Back in Aug. ’11 the owner confirmed some scuttlebutt that Four Fields would be closing in Nov. at 3412 Connecticut Ave, NW in Cleveland Park. Thanks to a few readers tips I stopped in the other night and was told they’ll remain open until the end of March and then hopefully negotiate another extension. At this point it’s not clear to me if another tenant [rumored at one point to be from the Mcfadden’s ownership] still have plans to lease the space. More news as it develops.
