From a press release:

“The team behind Odessa is developing DC’s first caviar fusion lounge in an approximate 2,600 square foot space located at 1413 K Street, NW. Odessa will feature a variety of caviar, a unique dining experience, unparalleled customer service, and hand-made craft cocktails.

Complementing the luxurious lounge will be an eight (8) person private chef’s table. Chef James “J.R.” Robinson, the founder of KitchenCray and former “Hell’s Kitchen” contestant, will oversee the kitchen. Chef Robinson has developed a unique menu of American fusion cuisine.

A couple weeks ago we learned “Dacha seems to be in very big trouble with ABRA”. Think they can rally enough support to save themselves? If not, CityPaper reported:

“Dacha Beer Garden owners Dmitri Chekaldin and Ilya Alter are laying off half of their staff and negotiating to sell the business amid a battle with the Advisory Neighborhood Commission over their capacity level.

Meanwhile, the owners are in negotiations to sell the business to a big German beer brand (which Chekaldin declined to name) that has plans for several beer gardens in the U.S.”

Think Dacha would survive/continue to thrive if it’s bought by “a big German beer brand”?

“Dear PoPville,

Anyone know what’s going on to the building right by Duffy’s? Looks like it is finally under construction.”

I’ve been getting a few emails mentioning that work had finally started at 2100 Vermont Ave, NW. Back in August of 2014 we finally learned who’d be moving into long vacant building next to Duffy’s – Wet Dog Tavern. The liquor license placard revealed it’ll be:

“Tavern serving American Food. Occasional live entertainment to include Deejays, live music
and dancing.

Sidewalk Café Seats is 30, Summer Garden with Backyard Seats of 70.

Summer Garden RoofDeck total is 30

Entertainment Endorsement, Cover Charge, Dancing. Total Occupancy Load 200.”

Stay tuned.

Could be interesting – I freaking love the name – a liquor license application for Upstate Tavern says:

“Full-service tavern serving cocktails, soup, craft beers, braised pork.
Sidewalk Café Seating 36 patrons. Total Occupancy Load of 85, with seating for 78. Entertainment Endorsement.”

Updates as they get closer to opening.

Back in July we learned that The Passenger’s new home would be right next door to Ivy and Coney on 7th Street. They’ve now posted a liquor license placard which reveals a roof deck could be in the future too. “Summer Garden” used interchangeable with a roof deck.

The placard says:

“Restaurant serving bar food (burgers, hotdogs, etc.) Occasional entertainment may include DJ or live music. Number of seats: 175. Total Occupancy Load: 175. Sidewalk Café with seating for 10 and Summer Garden with seating for 75.”

Lots of folks are wondering.

Sudhouse [1340 U Street, NW] tells us:

“Sudhouse is showing the Debate on both floors tonight and extending Happy Hour til 9pm!!!!!”

Duffy’s also will show it as well as Looking Glass Lounge. Could be your last chance to hit a debate at Stetsons before they close. For those who went out for the GOP debates, where were your favorite bars to watch?
