From an email:

Thursday, November 17th – Friday, November 18th, we will be hosting a traditional French celebration of the Beaujolais Nouveau release. The wines are embargoed by the producers until the 17th, upon which the French celebrate their first glimpse at the newest wine vintage by drinking a lot of it. It’s a tradition worth adopting. New this year will be a complimentary French tapas for every purchase of Beaujolais Nouveau (glass or bottle).”

From a press release:

“In true holiday tradition, Christmas comes to Drink Company’s Pop Up Bar the day after Thanksgiving. Washington’s favorite holiday pop-up Miracle on 7th Street returns to Shaw on November 24th for its third and biggest year. With five winter scenes and cocktails like Elf’s Breakfast, Whobilation, and I Sleigh, All Day, the Drink Company team is ready to share its favorite holiday movies, music, and traditions with guests from D.C. and all over the country.

“I love Christmas. It’s more than just the presents, food and decorations for me. It’s about cheer,” says Drink Company President Derek Brown. “People just seem happier. Miracle is all about bringing some of that levity to life. It’s cloaked in great decorations and, of course, we make amazing drinks but the real reason Miracle is so popular (and why it’s my favorite)? It’s a grand conspiracy to have fun and everyone is in on it, from the bartenders to the guests.”

THE ROOMS | This year’s presentation of Miracle on 7th will be the biggest one yet, with holiday elements distributed through five spaces by Drink Company’s Special Projects team of Matt Fox (Director) and Adriana Salame Aspiazu (Manager). Guests will enter through a Christmas decor explosion, and can pose for photos in an antique sleigh from the 1800s. Childhood winter nostalgia is present throughout the bar with a working toy train, a Christmas tree, and a Gingerbread House that lets guests walk into a room full of sugary treats. (more…)

Because it’s Veterans Day Weekend obviously. And now we drink.

Also, where you gonna do your day drinking tomorrow? Rob asks:

“Any idea what bars and restaurants are open tomorrow for those of us with a day off?”

From ABRA:

“The list below details the 186 District ABC licensees approved to extend hours for the 2017 Veterans Day Holiday as part of the Extended Holiday Hours Program. For these establishments, hours may be extended:

  • Alcohol service must end by 4 am each morning, concluding the morning of Saturday, November 11, 2017 unless an enrolled establishment is required by ABRA to close earlier.”

From a Facebook event Thursday:

“The Old: After a happy year at ESL, the creative team from Addendum is moving right up 18th Street into the basement of Smoke & Barrel. We wish our old partners well.

The New: The move from Dupont to Adams Morgan is a pleasant one for us, as it brings us closer to our community. We’ve got a new name and some cozy new digs, but some things remain the same: no sugar, no citrus; no muss, no fuss; no shakers and no f*ing Tito’s. Jenny (Feldt) leads the charge on cocktails, programming, and hugs, while Lukey (B. Smith) runs the development house, providing the ingredients that keep things fresh in the absence of syrup and citrus.

This will be the first night of our two-month run as a PopUp called Past Perfect. Past Perfect will be taking over “Beneath the Barrel” below Smoke& Barrel and will be open Thursday through Sundays starting at 6pm until last call.

Alright, alright, alright. It’s been a minute – so let’s remedy that. Meet me and some of the folks from Real Living at Home next Wednesday, November 8th from 5:30 – 7:30pm (though I’ll probably stay later) at Homestead (3911 Georgia Avenue, NW.) First 40 folks get a free drink ticket! Hey-o. I’ll also bring some t-shirts as usual. And while it’s not an officially anniversary party – let’s also toast PoPville turning 11 years old this November. And let’s also toast the world still spinning round and round. See you in a week!!

How in the world did I miss this?!? MVP’s website says:

“A truly great sports bar must be awash in TVs, offer an inordinate selection of beers, whiskeys, tequilas and excel at something good, saucy and routinely on special, and must end up all over dress shirts.

MVP’s our one-size-fits-all Sports Bar concept, with more than 28 HDTVs, two video wall, dozens of beers, and huge selection of Whiskey’s and Tequilas (did we say HUGE?). (more…)
