“Dear PoPville,

I failed in the witty response department – usually my forté. This Saturday afternoon in AdMo on Columbia Rd, right outside the hardware store. You had just finished a run it looked like and were putting on maybe a red shirt. I was in crazy blue striped leggings, clogs, and with a dorky backpack on. You said, “Nice leggings” and all I could come back with was, “Thank you, they’re fun” what I really should have responded with – and was on the tip of my tongue – was, “Nice abs….”

Ed. Note: If this is you, please email [email protected] so I can put you in touch with OP. PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about past missed connections, some have been made and when possible I’ll try to update when/if more are made.

“Dear PoPville,

Hoping you can maybe find guy–who knows he might be the one…

I (man in his early 30s) think I had a missed connection June 5th around 11am. Finishing up a run on the mall on the corner of 15th and Constitution, caught the eye of a handsome guy (late 20s, early 30s) also running. He was wearing a maroon shirt, and I was wearing a light green tank. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Going for a long shot. I was walking my tiny pup with a friend on Tuesday night (5/18) around 10pm on the corner of 14th and T NW when we stopped to pet a cute pup named Otto, who happened to have a cute guy for a human. Otto was having some trouble staying focused on his walk, and his human laughed and thanked us for petting his dog, which was pretty adorable. I was the tall blonde girl probably creepily focused on your dog.

Anyway, any chance you’re single and want to walk our dogs together? My dog’s terrible at walking too it might just work…”

“Dear PoPville,

I (man in his mid-20s) had a missed connection at the outdoor seating at Tatte bakery and cafe on Connecticut Ave on Tue, May 18 in the afternoon. There was a girl who was wearing a white top, blue jeans and had a black backpack, sitting with her friend and chatting. We were making a ton of eye contact and I was getting a positive vibe, (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Had a missed connection today (Monday) at Vida on U Street:

Him: red tank, probably 6’0/6’1, black, lifting on the third floor
Me: 5’11, red hair, grey stringer with red sports bra and black leggings on the rower

Kept looking at each other but you left before I could catch you.
Want to lift together sometime?”

“Dear PoPville,

On Saturday, May 16th around 4:30/5 I was sitting on a bench in the shade in Logan Circle and listening to the brass band play. There was a cute guy sitting on the bench next to me in a blue button down shirt and jeans with the cuffs rolled up. He was writing in a notebook. I was the brunette in a dress with a blue and pink pattern.

At one point he turned to me and said he didn’t live in the neighborhood and was wondering if I could recommend a good bar. I suggested the patio at Lost and Found and gave approximate directions on how to get there. I kind of wish I had been invited to join him for that drink! If you see this, I would love to show you more of my neighborhood!”

“Dear PoPville,

On sunday, i was making my typical trader joe’s run for the week. Usually i go to the one on Florida, but i found myself in capitol hill and figured i’d head to the Pennsylvania Ave one. thank goodness i did! As i reached for the often discontinued peanut butter jo jos, I glanced over to see a tall, perfectly built brunette in a neutral t shirt and athletic shorts. he was kind and patient as i made my way over and perused the ready to bake burritos and freshly made wraps. he waited his turn as i looked back and smiled, wanting to comment on his cool fish or shark tattoo on his forearm. i clammed up like the sea, afraid of making a fool of myself. after we both left the isle, he headed to wait in the line as i made my way to the seasoning section. we made eye contact one last time, and i never saw him again.

help me find this missed connection? I’m a 5ft 6 thic brunette looking to buy him a cup of coffee!”

“Dear PoPville,

This is my first time writing in so I’m not sure how this works, but here goes nothing!

On Sunday, May 9th, (Happy mother’s day!) I was having an espresso at Emissary on 20th street. As I was getting up to carry on with my bike ride, she started the conversation by asking about my ride, and then told me about her step-dad’s passion for biking. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I keep hearing the dog park is the place to meet people, maybe it’s true! I had a long chat with Lucie the husky’s dad at the Newark St. dog park on Saturday, but left quickly when the rain started without getting his name. Now that our dogs figured out how to play together, puppy and coffee date? (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

People say you need to shoot your shot — does that include when both people are getting a shot?

Monday afternoon, convention center, Safeway sector. You: sage coat, blue t-shirt, silver hair. Me: olive t-shirt, black jeans, tattoos. I had to flip my chair 180 degrees since I got my vaccine in the atypical arm, we therefore somewhat awkwardly faced each other for the duration of our inoculations. (more…)
