I love this one. It is from a coffee shop on H Street, NE. This scene inside looked super cool as well. Anyone been there? If so how’s the coffee?

Next time you go to Columbia Heights Coffee on 11th between Monroe and Park be sure to take a second and actually check out the old coffee cans above the sugar. Some of them are really quite cool.

Back in June we learned that the old coffee spot at the corner of 14th and U would become a boutique (selling handbags and such) and cafe. I’m not sure if that’s still the plan but I did notice some construction permits in the front window so hopefully they’ll be opening up in some capacity pretty soon. And by some capacity I really mean as a cafe of sorts…
You think this spot is too small to support just a cafe given the high rents of the area?

It’s located at 2714 Georgia Ave. Looks like a great spot for a cup of coffee. Anyone try the food or coffee?

On the side is also a very cool mural.

CocoLibre is the new coffee/tea/chocolate spot that replaced Nani Kafe at Harvard and Sherman. In addition to providing another option for loose tea for sale they now also offer Wifi. I thought this was one of the problems with Nani Kafe – while the coffee was great there was no Wifi.
The owner writes:
“Okay. The Wifi is up now. Some come all ye free internet users. And be sure to buy something, too!”

Nani Kafe, located on the corner of Harvard and Sherman, has closed their doors. That’s the bad news. The good news is that a new cafe, CocoLibre, will be opening up in this spot on Wed. or Thursday. I spoke briefly with owner, Ongisa, who was super enthusiastic about the new spot. She told me that CocoLibre will feature fair trade items tea, hot chocolate, and coffee. There will also be pastries, sandwiches, and chocolate for sale. Ed. Note: Who gives a frack about an oxford comma?

They’ve begun painting the interior:

Can’t wait to check them out!

I noted earlier in the week that Petworth was getting a new coffee spot on Georgia Ave. near the metro. While the previous post had a floor plan these pictures can help you visualize the space a bit better. There’s still a bit of work to be done but I’m glad to know it’s actually coming to a designated spot and not just in the planning stages. I’ll post more photos and the address as they become available.

This is phenomenal news. I am so psyched to announce that Fresh off the Roast Coffee will be opening up a brick and mortar shop on Georgia Avenue! The exact address can’t be announced yet because it is still undergoing the permitting process but it will be close to the metro. The owner, Joel, expects the store to open as early as mid-December but more likely in January. I’ll obviously keep everyone updated. Above you can find a layout of what the store will look like. I’ll also post pictures as they become available. Finally a proper coffee shop!
Ed. Note: Full disclosure Fresh off the Roast is a PoP advertiser. By the by do you want me to continue to add this disclosure every time I post news about a spot that is a PoP advertiser?

Some of the condos in the PN Hoffman building on 14th Street look really wild. Pretty unusual roof, yeah? But to the point at hand this is a great balcony.
