I’ve always loved this building in Mt. Vernon Square. I am an admitted sucker for fire-escapes but it’s also got great details:

Too bad plans for a Tavern with Middle Eastern food never worked out. Hopefully someone else will lease/buy this great space.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a judging back of rowhouses post – I think this one is pretty sweet. Maybe a deck or balcony would’ve been cool as well? Though it does look like it has a pretty cool green roof:

Looks like a relatively new building from the 2400 block of California St, NW. What I also liked and actually like even more than the embassy is the building right next door – makes for quite a contrast as well. Feels like a totally different world:

I guess I have two questions here: Number one – what do you think of the house itself?

Number two: how does this win an honor award for historic preservation if it was built in 1968?

From an email:

Ever wonder about that piece of stone castle wall at 16th Street and Florida Avenue?

Normally I just walk by this building above Salon Blu next to Churchkey/Birch & Barley at 1339 14th Street NW. But looking up last weekend – it’s got tons of great details:

And I’m an admitted lover of fire escapes.

A few more shots after the jump. (more…)
