Walnut has quickly mastered giving shade to her mom and dad who interrupt her nap time.”

“Patches:

“Psst! Hey you! Yah..you! Come a little bit closer… That’s good…just a little bit closer. Purrfect! Now…could you sit down next to me for a second? HA! Since that you’re sitting, I’m going to jump in your lap, ok? And I’m going to stay here all day, all right? Oh…while you’re here, would you mind petting me a bit? And giving me some ear scratches? Thanks, Friend!”
Patches is an extremely affectionate lap cat, who wants nothing more than to spend the day sitting on your lap, purring gently, occasionally chirruping for attention (or to let you know that she’s listening, if you want to tell her all about your day). She is outgoing, has lots of personality, and is ready to take on the world!

If you are looking for an affectionate companion with an opinion or two (who also happens to be beautiful), Patches may be your new best friend! To learn more check our site.

“Jimmy:

Want to sit back and talk about wine, Jimmy’s your fella. Want to discuss fluctuating mortgage rates or your latest tinder date, he’s all in. Want to discuss day care or play group for the kids though- not so much. Jimmy loves adult company and while he’ll happily take orders from you, he wants to be the big dog (napoleon complex, much?!). He does well with submissive pups, but would prefer not to put up with other macho men like himself.

He loves going for long walks, enjoys cozying up on the couch, and would love to make your house his home!

To learn more, check out our site.”

“Donald and Daisy:

This sibling pair is just ducky- but they’d be even better in a new forever home!
These sweet sibs were adopted as kittens, but recently returned when their owner could no longer care for them. Both Daisy and Donald are cuddly and social. They love getting scratched behind their ears, sitting with their faces in the air conditioner breeze, and chasing balled up socks around the room (how cute is that?!) Donald loves playing, especially with his plush jingly mouse, while Daisy prefers sitting on the couch and getting her head scratched; no matter what, they love getting attention from their humans! You can learn more about them on Instagram @connecticutavecats and on Homeward Trails’ website.”

“Mocha from Shaw celebrating her parents making it official.”

“New kittens in Columbia Heights!

Hudson (grey) and Sabine (black and white) are two kittens my husband and I just adopted from a wonderful foster family through the Humane Rescue Alliance! They’re littermates, though they look nothing alike. They love pouncing, play fighting, and snuggling up together for naps!

Obligatory plug: it’s kitten season! Please consider adopting a cat or two through the Humane Rescue Alliance or another reputable animal rescue. If you’d rather get kittens than adult cats, please consider getting two. They’ll keep each other company, teach each other to play-fight without being too rough, and you’ll save two lives instead of one. Plus, is there anything cuter than seeing a pair of kitty siblings snuggled up together? I think not!”

“With soulful brown eyes and a black velvet coat, adoptable Nettie is a showstopper. She is a sweetheart with a heart of gold, and loves to play. You know she is a lab because “ball, ball, ball!” is her way of life! She is about 9 months old and 41 lbs. She is active and athletic, and has mastered the art of fetch. With proper exercise outside, she settles down nicely inside and is an affectionate and cuddly girl. She does well with other dogs, but is probably too active for most cats. She is crate trained and doing extremely well with housetraining.

Nettie was rescued from an animal control facility in South Carolina that lacks the resources to hold animals past a brief stray hold and facilitate adoptions to the public. Rescue was her only hope, and she is dreaming of the loving forever home we know she deserves, and the family to whom she’ll bring years of love and fun. If you are interested in adopting Nettie or learning more about her, please submit an adoption application.”

“Hello friends! My name is Tokyo. I’m a soft and quiet boy who’s applying for the job of “best friend and loyal companion” because I heard that you have an opening. For starters, I have a quiet, calm purrsonality. I know how to be a well-mannered family boy, having held my previous position for most of my seven (7) year life. I am really looking to find my own home and my very own purrson but am an “only cat” kind of guy. I would love to go home as your “one and only”. My quiet style and mellow personality make me natural companion for the thoughtful, tender-hearted person. Also I have good taste in handbags…

The volunteers and caregivers advise that Tokyo is affectionate, intelligent and gentle, and would be a good fit for a senior or any quiet home. He does need to be the only pet, but he will blossom in a home where his loyalty and devotion will be appreciated. Find out more about adopting wonderful Tokyo here.”
