Looking for a new furry friend AND a way to help animals affected by Tropical Storm Harvey? Consider adopting from Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation this weekend!

We are having our annual Mega Adoptorama on Sunday, September 3 and Monday, September 4 at the PetSmart in Falls Church. There will be dozens of kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs looking for their forever homes — along with a bake sale and kitten shower! For every animal who finds a forever home this weekend, resources and space will open up for us to provide refuge for an animal displaced by Tropical Storm Harvey.

Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation initially committed to taking in 20 dogs from San Antonio Pets Alive. Although we are out of space at our own shelter, we are paying to board these pups at a local facility while we set them up for adoption. Thanks to the overwhelming support of the community to our Harvey Fundraiser, however, we have raised the funds needed not only to board the original 20 dogs, but also to take in even more animals as an Emergency Placement Partner of the Humane Society of the US. The more animals we adopt out this weekend, the more we can save!

Please stop by to meet some of our adoptable animals, pick up a scrumptious homemade treat from our bake sale, and make a donation to help us support animals in need!

Below are two of the great animals you can look forward to meeting this weekend!

Aly and Simone

“These stunning Abyssinian mix cats are searching for a true forever home, either together or separately. Sadly, due to allergies and work schedule issues, their human recently decided to return them at nearly a year old, which is especially heartbreaking, since they had originally been rescued from a low-resource shelter in South Carolina.  But their tough start in life, loss of their home, and being shuffled to a new foster home hasn’t dampened their spirits, as these girls remain lighthearted, playful, and affectionate with their humans and one another. Their foster reports that they have perfect litter box manners and have adjusted well.  While they have been together all their lives and play and cuddle with one another, they do not necessarily need to be adopted together. But they do make a perfect pair if you agree that cats are like potato chips…. you can’t have just one! They’re fully vetted and would make a great addition to just about any family. You can submit an adoption application for one or both of them through the DC PAWS website, at https://dcpawsrescue.org/adoption-info/.”

“Daisy Duke is an approximately 3-year-old AKC-registered Rottweiler.  She is very sweet, loves giving kisses, and is very lovable.  She is very gentle, but loves to destroy her toys.  She knows how to sit when she is presented with treats.  She loves being outside and loves to play.  She will chase a cat if it runs, but once it’s cornered she will just walk away – she just loves the chase!  She has rarely been around small children and will bark, but not growl at them.  She would do best with children over the age of 12.  She’s a beautiful and sweet girl looking for her forever home!  Learn more about Daisy Duke and apply to adopt her at ruraldogrescue.com
