Have you ever met a perpetually happy, optimistic, glass is half full type of person? Well JoAnn is the canine version of that! She could not contain her joy when she took her freedom ride – via airplane thanks to some generous Pilots n Paws pilots – and arrived in DC last week full of hope for the future. This beautiful girl is a MinPin mix, weighing in at 17 lbs and about one year old. She is still very much a puppy with a playful nature and energy to match. She loves to play and go for runs, and promises to get you fit or keep you on track with your fitness goals. With enough exercise and play, she transforms into a cuddly lap dog who will snuggle with you as she snoozes. Totally portable, JoAnn would love to go on life’s adventures with you and promises a life full of loyalty and love. She is great with other dogs and gentle children, and can be cat tested if her potential forever family includes a feline. Could JoAnn’s forever home be with you? To learn more about JoAnn and adopting her through DC PAWS Rescue, please visit here.

¯…There was catnip in the air that night, your eyes so bright, Purrnando… ¯OK, sorry for the earworm, but come ON. Purrnando is an awesome name, for an even more awesome cat! Purrnando is a brand new arrival to our friends at 4Paws Rescue! This handsome tuxedo wearing gentleman is 10 years young! He has earned his name, being quick to purr up a storm and offer up headbutts. Purrnando was recently transferred to 4Paws from a WV-based rescue organization so that he would have a better opportunity of finding a good home. He originally lost his home when his previous family decided to downsize. He is a healthy and robust boy who loves to be picked up and held and easily gets along with other cats. If you would like to foster or adopt Purrnando, email [email protected], and also ¯I can’t wait to bring you home with me, my new kitty, Purrnando ¯ (HINT HINT)

Ed. Note: Also note from HRA “Adoption fees waived this weekend (June 30 and July 1)” (more…)

Sweet Seraphina is a gentle, petite girl who loves to be near her humans. In fact, her favorite spot is on the couch right next to you. She loves ear rubs, chin scratches, and lots of whispered sweet nothings! She will even meow or chirp to let you know she loves the attention!

We think Seraphina hurt her back before landing at an area shelter, but she is fully recovered now and is discovering how much fun it is to race around the house and be an active young kitty again! To learn more about Seraphina, please visit Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation’s website.

Unlike many seniors, Bruno decided he didn’t like Florida, so he packed his bags and moved up North. This 8 year old fellow loves to be showered with pets and attention. He’s still playful for his age, and he loves snuggling. He would, however, prefer to be the only dog in his home. Why not adopt Bruno and show him all that the DC area has to provide!
