“Vita is a beautiful blue-point Siamese-mix senior lady who is a looking for a quiet place in the sun where she can spend her golden years. She is a sweet, calm cat with a lot of love to give! Adopt her to live out La Bella Vita together.

As an added bonus, if you’re over 50, Vita’s adoption fee is waived as part of the Boomer’s Buddies program! Standard adoption procedures apply. To meet Vita, contact the Humane Rescue Alliance.”

“Hi! I’m Lady, an aptly named, petite girl who’s looking for a new home. I’m as sweet as can be, and absolutely love other dogs! My life goals are to meet as many new dog friends as I can, chase all the squirrels, and learn as many new tricks as possible so I can build my confidence. My favorite pastime is taking my foster mom’s shoes and rain boots and putting them in my bed to snuggle with. I’d love to live with another dog in my new home, and to go to training classes because I’m really smart and love treats! I’m living the good life in Montgomery County right now and probably chasing my foster brother around as we speak, so email my foster mom at [email protected] to meet me!”

“Introducing Tomo, a 6 month old Japanese bobtail living in H St NE. The story behind his name is from when I was a kid in Syria. We would watch Tom and Jerry, and since “and” in Arabic is “o” I had always thought the cat was named Tomojerry and that Jerry was just called “mouse.” Coincidentally, Tomo in Japanese means friend!”

“Rocky of Trinidad enjoys the weather we have been having! He has been spending alot of his time on the patio! He is a humane rescue alliance alumni I adopted in December of 2018.”

In honor of Memorial Day, we’re putting “classic” AdoPtville on hold today to tell you about some organizations working to both help pets and to honor those who serve:

Pets for Vets (https://petsforvets.com/washington-dc and Pets for Patriots (https://petsforpatriots.org/) both work to match veterans with homeless animals.  For many veterans, having this animal need them is what gets them out of bed in the morning.  Many have found the relationship with their rescued pet to be healing.  Both organizations are in need of donations, volunteers and word of mouth!

Dogs on Deployment (https://www.dogsondeployment.org/) and Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pet (https://gafsp.org/) both work to find foster families willing to “board” pets whose military owners are deployed to places the pet(s) cannot follow.  Both organizations would love to have additional willing foster families, volunteers, people willing to share information about their work, and donations!

Volunteer PSA – A reminder to ensure your pets are secured for the holiday, as fireworks are often terrifying for our pets:  https://www.familycircle.com/family-fun/pets/firework-safety-for-pets/

Enjoy your holiday weekend, and many thanks from us for all your support for the pets of PoPville and AdoPtville!

Copeland is a silly, fun, energetic and loving young dog. He pounces on toys like a champ and is generally a goofy and happy pup. He wants to bring all of his joy to his adopter! He promises to be a good boy if you’ll give him lots of treats to help him put on some weight. Copeland has already learned “let’s go”, “sit”, “go to mat”, “trade”, “go get it”, and he is working on “come”. He would make a terrific companion for anyone with a house and yard in which he can feel secure and fully express his playful nature.

This goofy young boy loves socializing and playing, and he learns new games and commands very quickly. Copeland loves to go running, but he is also great inside. When company is over – including kids – he will make friends instantly and be the life of the party. He loves the outdoors but feels anxious and is reactive to crowded or busy city streets, so a quiet suburban environment would be the best fit for him.  Apply today to meet handsome Copeland through City Dogs!

Bruce Banner aka The Incredible Hulk, the big Green Avenger! This Bruce Banner is more like his human namesake than their alter ego. He is a big cat but worry not, he won’t turn into a big green fighting machine and stays in his sweet, lovable cat form. Bruce is incredibly smart, with multiple PhDs, so you may catch him occasionally conducting an experiment or two to answer his latest query, like how small a shoebox can be and still fit a cat. But aside from that, Bruce is ready for a relaxing life, full of head scratches, cat toys and cuddling. He gets along with others and is currently hanging out with his buddy Steve Rogers aka Captain America! Who’s ready to give Bruce the relaxing life he deserves? He did save the world a couple of times, right?!

Bruce is an absolute sweetheart (and a big doof) and is guaranteed win over the hearts of anyone in the household. He LOVES attention and loves to cuddle so he constantly chases you around for pets and climbs on top of you when you’re laying down. He’s a great lapcat and would fit into any household without a problem. Apply today to meet this great guy through City Kitties!
