Animal Fix

AdoPtville is run by two volunteers who compile these pets weekly from local shelters.

With Duff, the sky is the limit. This happy-go-lucky fella is an open book who is ready to learn and grow with you. He loves being outside and exploring new places. Evening walks are his favorite time of the day–Duff literally dances with delight as his harness is put on him. He is working on tempering his excitement while on leash during walks (So many dogs to greet and new things to investigate!). His best buddy, a little resident dachshund/rat terrier, is his mentor and hero. Duff copies everything she does and plays with her very gently in spite of his much bigger size. Duff is would be a great dog for an active person who also wants snuggles. To learn more about Duff, reach out to City Dogs Rescue.

Meet Rugelach! This 3 year old is outgoing, affectionate, and sometimes chatty. Rugelach came to DC from North Carolina and is staying with his foster family in Capitol Hill (human parents and his cat buddy, Tom). Now he’s ready for his forever home–and a forever lap to curl up on. Rugelach is a purr machine with a permanent smile on his face! To learn more about Rugelach, reach out to City Kitties.

Meet Arabelle! This sweet 9-month-old Basenji mix was found as a stray in rural South Carolina, but is getting her 2nd chance thanks to a great foster family here in the DC area! Arabelle can be a bit shy at first, but once she warms up, she’s a playful and affectionate pup who loves to snuggle. Arabelle is crate- and house-trained, and is improving on leash every day (though she does love to let the neighborhood squirrels know who’s boss). Arabelle is good with cats and with other dogs, and great with her foster family’s kids, too! She loves exploring, playing with toys, and going for walks. Arabelle will do best in a calm environment (ideally with a fenced yard) and needs an adopter who will continue her consistent training, to ensure this good pup becomes a great dog! Hello there, PoPville! This is Trixie, and if you can’t already tell by looking, she cute. Trixie was found fending for herself outside as a kitten, but was lucky enough to find a nice family to help her. Now Trixie is about a year old, and looking for her forever home. Trixie is a cat’s cat – she loves dozing in the sun, looking out the window, and responding to gentle humans with soft purrs. Trixie loves her people but would likely prefer to be the center of your attention, so would love to be your “one and only”. “This is Parker, a 14 year old Shih Tzu, living his best life in Navy Yard. He has lived all over the city – SW waterfront, Dupont Circle, U street, Petworth, Brookland, and now Navy Yard. He loves to get some sun on our new balcony.”

Update: “Please send positive thoughts to Parker. We had to take him to the ER Saturday night and he is currently getting ultrasounds of his belly. His prognosis is not looking good. I’m waiting for a call from the radiologist. I’ve had Parker since he was 8 weeks old and any positive energy sent his way would be much appreciated.”
