“This is Irma – a new resident of Mount Pleasant! She’s an 8-week old yellow lab pup being raised for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. She’ll live in Mount Pleasant for about a year and get basic skills training and socialization, and then go on to formal guide dog training in NY. Folks in the neighborhood may spot her out and about in stores and restaurants in Mount Pleasant – if she’s wearing her blue bandana, she’s actively working! (you can follow her journey on Instagram @irmatheguidepup)”

A picture is worth a thousand words – and Lowen’s smile really says it all! This loving and happy Rottweiler mix is about 2 years old, and loves his people (and peanut butter. and hot dogs.)! Lowen is on the timid side, and would benefit greatly from being in a home with a calm dog “sibling” to help him see the world as not too scary. He loves to go for walks and will be a great exercise companion! Lowen weighs just under 55 lbs. He is looking for a home where he can build his confidence and develop his loving and fun nature! Find out more about adopting handsome Lowen here: Lowen at Lost Dog Rescue

Say hello to pretty Krissy! This approximately 3-year-old “tuxedo tabby” is a playful girl looking ideally for a forever home, and currently in need of a foster home! Krissy loves to play with fishing pole toys and to chase balls – while she would probably be best as an only cat, she does OK with mellow cats who respect her space, and has even made a friend at the Meows Corner Cat Café (his name is Antonio J). Krissy can be a bit timid and will do best in a patient and compassionate home, where she’ll be given the time to trust and develop affection. Krissy is definitely the right kitty for some lucky person – is it you? Find out more about either fostering or adopting Krissy here: Krissy at Four Paws

“Dexter triumphantly returned to Petworth after a 3 year adventure in Hawaii. Because he was recently diagnosed with diabetes, he’s usually “rocking the red” so he doesn’t scratch at a medical implant. He’s a trooper!”

Aurelia is the total package! A petite lady who loves to play, every toy is exciting to her except for a laser light, which she’d like you to know is just silly. She wants toys she can toss, catch and put her mouth on and having only one functioning eye doesn’t slow her down at all! Aurelia enjoys chasing balls and is getting pretty good at playing fetch with her favorite ball (one that’s bigger than her head)! She can and will entertain herself while you work (or sleep).

A quiet kitty, she does have a very small meow that usually comes out when she’s playing ball by herself. After a long play session, Aurelia is happy to curl up in your lap for a long nap. She has no problem with you typing away at your computer or working on Zoom while she sleeps.

Aurelia is both dog and cat friendly and would do well with animal companions, but since she’s so good at playing by herself, she’d probably be fine as an only cat as well. Aurelia is the perfect pet for someone; make that lucky person be you! Apply to meet her right now through City Kitties Rescue.

Cornelius is a go-with-the-flow kind of dog. Super sweet and low maintenance, he is the kind of buddy that enjoys very leisurely walks and doesn’t mind you hitting the snooze button a few times in the morning. He is a gentleman at home – doesn’t bark, beg or chew on anything. He loves spending time with his people, enjoys pets, and is very loyal. He’s even made friends with the neighbor’s dog.

Cornelius is adapting well to city life and all of its bustle. He is gaining confidence outside, though unexpected noises and unfamiliar people can startle him. He recovers pretty quickly and will continue on his merry way. Slow, calm introductions will warm Cornelius up to new people and get his tail wagging. Cheese and other treats are the great motivators for those walks later in the day. Cornelius is a sweet, low-key dog who will stand by you and love you without limits. Apply today to meet this heart of gold fella through City Dogs Rescue.
