Miss Kitty is an 11 year old purring machine who came to the Humane Rescue Alliance when her human could no longer care for her.

She is calm, a little shy, is good with her litter box, and loves to be petted. As she gets adjusted to her foster home, her sweet and trusting personality is starting to come out and she is happy to take a nap next to her foster mom.

She would prefer to be the only cat in the house. Check out a day in the life of Kitty in her video. If you’d like to meet the cat behind that Mona Lisa smile, contact Kitty’s foster mom at [email protected].

Nikki is a 10-year-old Husky who came to the Humane Rescue Alliance in January.

Nikki was rescued from a hoarding situation and went through a rehabilitation program with the ASPCA. She was transferred after graduating to HRA. Since her time with HRA, she’s been a very shy gal and a bit on the skittish/jumpy side. It’s necessary that you approach her slowly and quietly; therefore, she would do best in an adult only house (no apartments) that’s quiet. She’d do best with someone that can spend time with her and help her keep to standard routines such as going for walk and going to the bathroom outside.

She isn’t demanding at all; in fact, she is very content to sleep in her crate most of the day. She does enjoy her walks taking in all the smells and scenery. She’s a beautiful girl, and, underneath her gorgeous coat, is a dear, sweet dog looking for a new chapter to her senior life. Please let this last chapter be comforting, stimulating and positive. Her foster can be contacted at [email protected].

“This is Lulu from Petworth looking at the birdies on her lunch break. I’m happy to report she is just a bird watcher and not a bird hunter!”

“Kitties Boris (orange) and Natasha (tuxedo) were not at all sure they wanted a new canine brother, Cosmo, but everyone is getting along well enough now.”

Cornelius is a go-with-the-flow kind of dog. He is the kind of buddy who enjoys very leisurely walks and doesn’t mind you hitting the snooze button a few times in the morning. He is a gentleman at home – doesn’t bark, beg or chew on anything. He loves spending time with his people, enjoys pets, and is very loyal. He’s even made friends with the neighbor’s dog. Cornelius is having a little trouble to city life and all of its bustle, so he needs a home in a quiet suburb with a fenced back yard. He is gaining confidence outside, though unexpected noises and unfamiliar people can startle him. He recovers pretty quickly and will continue on his merry way. Slow, calm introductions will warm Cornelius up to new people and get his tail wagging. Cheese and other treats are the great motivators for those walks later in the day. Cornelius is a sweet, low-key dog who will stand by you and love you without limits. Apply today to meet this heart of gold fella.

Monica is a pretty little kitty whose positive qualities are almost too numerous to list (but we tried above). She’s a gentle soul who has both quiet and playful sides. Monica likes to sleep during the day, so if you work from home you won’t even notice she’s around (no loud meowing during your Zoom meetings), but when you’re ready to sit and watch a movie in the evening, she’ll be quick to curl up and keep you company. When you turn in, Monica will be ready for more sleep and will happily join you in your bed.

Monica gets along with other cats, primarily ignoring them. When she’s in a playful mood, she likes to play with you and with catnip scented toys more than with other felines. Apply now to meet Monica — she is such a lovely lady! To learn more about Monica, click here.

“Phoebe, 3 months, Hill East

One of her daddies has been able to socially distance while working solo at his office during the shutdown. Phoebe got to come in and play CFO for the day, although she booked some rather questionable transactions before being relieved of her duties.”
