“I was approaching to land at a very busy grass strip in Reklaw, TX. Some 400 aircraft show up at this unique Fly-In. Arrival is quite busy considering there is no Control Tower. My 4y/o Naked Girl (Sphynx) awoke from the 1hr trip as engine noise changed in the approach. Her curiosity brought her forward to look out of the windscreen. Balanced on our shoulder’s and seatback, my husband took a pix of her amazing blue-eyed stare. I titled the pix “CAT I Landing”.

She goes everywhere with us by land, sea and air. Simply, a truly amazing animal and breed.
Her last flight w/ us was to Mineola, TX celebrating the airport’s 100th year. She had awoke from a nap and was looking for me. At age 6, this was her last flight as she passed away so young from HCM. She came to me as a rescue. She touched our lives for those 5.5 yrs in so many ways and loved us as the tiny “human” she seemed to be.”

This 19lb special girl is looking for a special home. Chestnut is a Jindo-mix that was rescued from the Korean Dog Meat trade last Summer by HSI. She spent her first 8 months living in a cage with her sister with little to no human interaction. She is still learning to trust humans but loves her dog friends. Chestnut enjoys playing with her foster sisters and often shows off her zoomie and spin skills. She is also content entertaining herself with toys and her bone and does well when left alone. She is not house trained but is good with pee pads.

Chestnut is a good match for a dog person who is calm, quiet, and willing to put in additional time and patience to teach Chestnut how awesome life is as a companion. She will do best in an adult only home with another confident dog.

Kitty is a beautiful, long hair, tortie girl who loves to be pet! She came from a home with many cats before finding herself at the shelter in July 2020. The longer she sat at the shelter the more she started to shut down. Now that she’s in foster, she’s slowly adjusting. We’re still getting to know her, but she has the softest fur you can imagine!

Here is what her foster mom says: Kitty loves to be petted and hang out with her favorite people. She will even wait eagerly next to your bedroom door in the morning, just to be petted again. She does love watching Cat TV (aka the windows to the outside world) and sitting in the sun, but she will also sit next to her humans just to be near them. She is slowly getting used to sharing a couch with people and to getting picked up, but she gets better every day.

She’ll probably do best in a calm home where someone understands “cat” and can help her become more comfortable at her pace. Kitty can be adopted to a home with a friendly, welcoming cat (who is not pushy or in her face) or can be considered as a single cat. She is about 3 years old.

Stevie is a special cat. She was born without eyes and has been blind her whole life. She is also FIV+. Despite her blindness and her FIV+ status, Stevie is the most loving cat. She wants to be around her humans all the time. She will purr as soon as you call her name and will run over in excitement. Stevie will spend the day on your lap or on your shoulders asking for love. She will also kiss your hands and your face in response to recieving love. Stevie’s tongue often sticks out in the cutest way after she kisses you!

Even though she is FIV+, Stevie is being fostered in a multi-cat household (where all the others are FIV-) and she is thriving. Stevie LOVES other animals and loves to play, to groom, and to be groomed. Stevie needs a cat friend to help her navigate the world. She and Dawson have become best buddies and they must be adopted together.

Mila is super soft and cuddly, and a beautiful girl. Still on the puppy side, she enjoys her long walks and playtime with her person to burn off that young girl energy. Mila is also quite smart and learned the word “sit” after just a few days of practice. Mila does well in social gatherings with other humans and dogs. Mila is nervous and barks when left home alone. She will need an adopter who will work with her on this and some puppy habits. At the moment she is not yet suited to apartment living. Everyone who meets Mila falls in love with her.
