This park in Columbia Heights makes me very sad. For I’ll say it, it is sketchy. I wonder if it would be so sketchy if it had a beautiful lawn and was well cared for. I feel like this is something we should rally around. Let me know if you want me to start a campaign of some sort to improve the quality of this park. It is pretty beat, yeah?

Even the sign is ganked…

Remember the discussion from last week when a reader found a pistol? Well, I just got a great update:

“Good news! I got a call just now from a Sgt. Reimel of the DC police forensics division…he told me he saw my story on your blog and wanted to follow up with me.

Once the gun came in they were able to test-fire it and they recorded the ballistics images and uploaded them to the ATF’s ballistics database…if it matches anything it can be used in prosecution.

The Sargent was extremely forthcoming and friendly and made me feel a LOT better about the whole situation.

I guess you never know who’s reading your site!

I hope you put this up on the site…I think that their good work in this case should be recognized!

I think this may be the oddest thing I’ve seen locked up. I have no doubt someone would steal it. Hmm, why don’t I see more of these locked up around town?

I can’t remember if I’ve ever posted this before but it made me laugh again so I had to put it up just in case. I wonder how the light bulb lit above the owner’s head – “Oh yeah, I know, I can cover the window with a twin size mattress. Of course! Why didn’t I think of this earlier?”

Won’t the mice, pigeons and/or squirrels realize that the plastic owl is in a cage and thus pose no threat? Personally, I wasn’t nearly as frightened as I normally get when I encounter plastic owls…

I was originally drawn to the spiral staircase but when I saw the tree sticking out up top I realized that must be a sick roofdeck. So let me ask again if anyone has a roof deck send me some pictures to princeofpetworth (at) gmail (dot) com or invite me over and I’ll take some photos. Share the wealth!
