Trucker Protest Remains on Constitution Ave

We first noted this protest on May 1st. According to Freightwaves:

“A convoy of around 70 small-business truckers convoyed to the nation’s Capitol around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, May 1, to protest low freight rates amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The group plans to remain parked along Constitution Avenue until May 4 in hopes of attracting the attention of President Donald Trump about the plight of small-business truckers, said Scott Jordan of Peculiar, Missouri, and owner of Powerhouse Transportation.”

17th and Corcoran Street, NW

“Dear PoPville,

Do you know why there have been two soldiers and DC police outside Safeway on 17th Street NW past couple of days?”

Ed. Note: We’ve noted a National Guard presence at some NPS run parks but this is the first report we’ve gotten from outside a business. I’m guessing they are just helping police enforce the ‘you must wear a mask’ before entering a grocery store rule. Anyone else see the National Guard posted at spots besides parks?
