Wow, is this going to be a double pop up? Or just one floor with two sets of windows? At this point, what do you think, will it look alright, or is it going to be a brutal eyesore? Just for reference – below is the only other example of a double pop up I’ve ever seen.

I’m really enjoying these posts on best falafel, Middle Eastern, Ethiopian, etc. So I’m super curious to learn where folks think the best Indian restaurant is to be found. The photo above from Adams Morgan claims to be DC’s finest. I have to give them props on one of the finest doors. But what is your vote for favorite Indian restaurant?

City Desk is reporting that the Supreme Court has overturned DC’s Handgun Ban. City Desk quotes Antonin Scalia’s blog: “We start therefore with a strong presumption that the Second Amendment right is exercised individually and belongs to all Americans.”

Is everyone going to get a gun now? Or do you think just like Eleanor Holmes Norton told me last week – the City will just pass very strict laws on ownership? Make your prediction now.

Design Within Reach, located at 1838 Columbia Road in Adams Morgan is one cool shop. I spoke with sales associate, Omari, who described the store as featuring modern, mid century furniture. He also explained that the name means that the patron is able to have direct access to classic pieces. Previously, customers had to go through designers to purchase these types of pieces but Design Within Reach has a warehouse that stocks many of the pieces so that there aren’t long wait periods for your furniture to arrive. As you would expect prices vary but most sofas range from $1500-$5000. The pictures will say a lot more than anything I can write. Plenty of them after the jump. But let me just add that I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw a terrarium on display. Well, another sales associate came up to me as I was admiring the terrarium and she told me it was actually for sale. Right on. So they also partner with Small World Terrariums and you can purchase some pretty cool terrariums. Very cool. Check out some photos of the furniture after the jump. (more…)

This is a good looking little house located at 1438 T Street. The pamphlet says:

“This Dupont/Logan townhouse is perfect for city living. The first floor has an open floor plan with beautiful hardwood floors. The renovated kitchen has granite countertops, a chef”s island plus great built-ins. There are 2 bedrooms + 2 full baths and a screened balcony on the second floor, along with laundry. The finished lower level has a third full bath and is great for work, play and study. Central air, abundant storage and parking.”

Asking price – $769,000 Good Deal or Not?

By the by, saying a “townhouse is perfect for city living” is a bit goofy, yeah?

Man that would be brutal to have your window knocked on so many times that you had to post a sign. I guess the buzzer must’ve been broken right? Why else would folks knock on someone’s window?

Thanks to a reader for sending me this link from DC Metrocentric. DC Metrocentric reports:

“The District, in collaboration with the residents of Park Morton and the Park View and Petworth community, initiated a process to plan for and implement the revitalization of the Park Morton neighborhood, which is bound by Georgia Avenue on the west, Warder Street on the east, Lamont Street on the south and Park Road on the north.

Consistent with the New Communities Initiative, the goal of this effort is to transform the public housing property and its immediate neighborhood into a mixed-income, mixed-use community. In this new community, residents will have access to high-quality housing options affordable at all income levels and to the human services necessary to help prepare them to take advantage of the new economic opportunities and changes that are coming their way.”

Wow, this sounds awesome. It seems like it would certainly contribute to Georgia Ave’s revival. Has anyone else heard about this project?

I don’t quite get it but I couldn’t stop staring at it. Who is that supposed to be at the right? Saddam Hussein? Someone explain the mural to me, please.

Thanks to a reader for sending in this great photo. The reader writes:

“I snapped the attached photo on my cell phone (hence the bad quality) while driving past Grant Circle Monday evening after a rain shower. (Yes, I pulled over first, then took the photo.) Even though the image isn’t very sharp…it’s message is unmistakable: Petworth is at the end of the rainbow.”
