Too cool. This one is on 15th Street. The flag is a nice touch.

This one was quite unusual. I’ve never seen a “door” between two rowhouses before. I guess there must be a little gap. It’s got a bit of a European flavor.

Pretty fresh though, yeah?

Not in my usual stomping grounds but this one was so cool I had to feature it. It is located in Cleveland Park. Both sides are all copper (I think) and it is strikingly modern compared to most of the homes up there. The second photo kind of reminds me of a ship. What do you think cool or too modern? (more…)

If mulch like this exists why would anyone use that red mulch?

Starting to fill in a bit. Can’t wait until we learn about the first floor retail.
After the jump check out a cool photo of how the crane is in the middle of the building. How will they remove it? (more…)

I really like the sushi at Tono (located on Connecticut in Woodley Park). Ed. note: I feel like there is a place for graffiti, primarily in alleys, the folks that put it here are a disgrace.
So, where’s your favorite sushi located?
Here were the recommendations for best Indian, falafel, Ethiopian, and Middle Eastern.

This one was taken by Jimmy. If anyone else has some good photos from the fourth of July send them my way at [email protected] and I’ll post them throughout the week.

Seems to be a little sparse on the windows, yeah? Do you think it could use another row of windows? Although the doorway looks like it may turn out pretty cool. Closeup of the doorway after the jump. (more…)

Thanks to a reader for sending in this rumor from the Mt. Pleasant Forum.
Although one commenter rightly notes that:
“I saw this same story about Starbucks moving into Irving and MtP that apparently had no basis in reality.

I am also aware that John Andrade who has a bar called Meridian Pint wanted to put in an independent beer/wine store in that location:

So, pretty much “expressed interest” and $2 will get you a cup of coffee in this town, what’s the truth? ”
And my favorite commenter said:
“This would be such good news! A McDonalds would contribute SO much to the community, we would never have to worry about it selling or serving alcohol, and it would never even THINK about providing entertainment of any kind, live or otherwise! This would be such a feather in our cap, our community leaders should be proud they’ve created an atmosphere on Mt. Pleasant St. that attracts the attention of such high-quality businesses! What Mt. Pleasant needs, no, what Mt. Pleasant DESERVES, is more least-common-denominator businesses like McDonalds that have no character, no soul, and that nobody will ever protest, argue about, or make a fuss over!”
But just out of curiosity do you think a McDonalds would do well on Mt. Pleasant Street?
