From the press release:

“The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA, or Metro)
and the District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT) have
teamed up to examine ways of improving transit service on the S1, S2,
and S4 routes between Silver Spring and Downtown DC. A major part of
this effort is determining the opinions of people who ride the 16th
Street buses. To that end, a public meeting will be held on July 15
to 1) identify issues related to the 16th Street Line, 2) listen to
comments and suggestions about ways to make improvements, and 3)
discuss the preliminary results of the rider survey.

The date, time, and location of the public meeting are: Tuesday, July
15, 2008 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at St Stephen and the Incarnation
Episcopal Church, 16th and Newton Streets NW. All are invited, no
RSVP is required, and we encourage you to pass this information along
to members of your community who may be interested in the study. Continues after jump. (more…)

This one was extraordinary. It is so cool because it is one of these huge sloped front lawns. They did a phenomenal job with the flow.

I’d love to know the history behind these sculptures. Anyone know anything about these?

Once featured as a doorway of the day I never actually focused on the house itself. It is phenomenal. Obviously the doorway rocks but I’m digging the windows just as much on the second floor.

This mural was in the parking lot of the 2407 Georgia Ave where I saw the Murals DC Kickoff (see post below). There were so many photos in that post I didn’t want this amazing mural to get over shadowed. Closeups after the jump. (more…)

With Flag day and the Fourth of July so close together it makes July a perfect bunting month. But then I guess there is the Christmas lights dilemma – how long before taking them down? Much like Christmas lights I imagine it is a pain to put up and take down. Maybe after Bastille Day is a good time for removal…

I think this is a personal home and not a commercial space. That makes the display 1000 times more fantastic. They must really love flamingos.

At least I think this 11th and W – I was severely dehydrated at this point… We’ve talked about this house before but a reader mentioned it in the comments from last week, something about it being the same architect who is doing the development above the Florida Ave Grill. I took a picture this week because I was marveling at the balcony. I like how it juts out over the side. Super cool. Close up after the jump. (more…)
