Nice multi layered one.

Nice multi layered one.

Anyone recognize it?

Crazy new construction. Looks pretty good yeah?

A long time ago we spoke about how sweet the new turf and track are at Teddy Roosevelt High. Well, you too can take advantage of the great track. It is available for public use 6:45-8:30am and 4:00pm to dusk Monday – Friday. No more excuses…

“This is Monty. He calls Columbia Heights home after being found in Dallas, Texas.
That’s his favorite toy yak in the background.”
Entries #13 and #14 after the jump. (more…)

We’ve spoken in the past about some good brunch options. But I’d like to know where are the best “regular” breakfast dining options in DC. My personal vote is for Krupins (or whatever it is called now) located on Wisconsin Ave. in Tenleytown. Damn good lox platters. Where’s your favorite regular breakfast option?

Does it get any better than this? (From 16th Street.) It reminds me of same grand building I’ve seen in Nice or Marseille in southern France. What’s this style called?
PoP happy hour tonight at Red Derby (14th and Quincy). Pick up your t-shirt or beer. Fun starts at 7pm. PoP happy hours are not exclusive in the slightest. No matter your age, race, country of origin, gender, sexual orientation, lover of cats or dogs – all are welcome!
Potentially super exciting news. I received this email yesterday:
“I am in the beginning stages of exploring the possibility of opening an upscale deli with a small lounge area serving wine and higher priced beers in Petworth, ideally on Georgia Ave. (possibly somewhere around the 4500 block). The deli would be open from 4 p.m. until 12 a.m. and would offer both eat-in and carry-out options. The décor would be modern with the music played being some of my favorites—thus running the gamut from garage rock to classic rock to punk to soul to classic rap to hybrid acts. I truly think Petworth needs more eateries, particularly in along the lines of a gourmet take-out. Thanks.”

Remember the discussion from last week when a reader found a pistol? Well, I just got a great update:
“Good news! I got a call just now from a Sgt. Reimel of the DC police forensics division…he told me he saw my story on your blog and wanted to follow up with me.
Once the gun came in they were able to test-fire it and they recorded the ballistics images and uploaded them to the ATF’s ballistics database…if it matches anything it can be used in prosecution.
The Sargent was extremely forthcoming and friendly and made me feel a LOT better about the whole situation.
I guess you never know who’s reading your site!
I hope you put this up on the site…I think that their good work in this case should be recognized!
