Battalion Chief Long was appointed to the Department on 12/19/1988. Battalion Fire Chief Long was currently serving as a Safety Battalion Chief at the time of his passing.

Battalion Fire Chief Long served the residents and visitors of the District for 38 years.”

“On February 13th, around 2:06 p.m., my family’s life changed forever. My little brother, Kenny Jimenez Rivera, just 26 years old, suffered a tragic accident in the 4100 block of Kansas Avenue NW, northeast of Washington, D.C., while working with his girlfriend. They were riding an electric bicycle when they were struck by a garbage truck, leaving them critically injured.

A woman crashed on an electric bike around 8:10ish last night (Thursday) and was lying unconscious in the middle of the road in Cleveland Park on Porter St NW towards the bottom of the hill. The two gentleman who found her called 911 and when I arrived I helped them to move her out of the middle of the road per the 911 operator’s instructions. She was unconscious, but (more…)
