I’ve never seen a little room off a porch like this before. This could be new favorite coffee spot. It’s from the Bloomingdale LeDroit Park neighborhood.

This is a little plot at Shepherd, Illinois and 4th Streets, NW. This little plot used to be filled with trash. It’s nice to see it became a proper garden. I wonder if the city did it or some neighborhood folks. Either way it looks great. Close ups after the jump. (more…)

“Here’s one I found just south of H St NE…don’t know if it comes through clearly, but the glass above the door has some animal sculptures in it. Thought that was creative.”
Nice. I am a sucker for fish sculptures.

This house has some seriously insane details. It’s from the Kalorama neighborhood. Funny thing about a house this nice is the couple of window a/c units you can see. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against a/c window units, hell I have some, but on a house this nice…

Notice the sign in the front window. Long and Foster lost their lease in Woodley Park at the corner of Connecticut and Calvert. That is a prime location, hopefully something good goes in there. L&F fans don’t be too worried, they have a building across the street.

Another sign lover seems to have salvaged this sign. I saw it in someone’s yard on Sherman Ave. It says “Mad T Music Box”. They have to get hooked up again. I bet it looks super fresh with the neon shining. Anyone know where this sign came from? A former DC spot?

“Screen on the Green is Back
It’s Show Time!
Dear Trust Friends,
This year, one of the most clebrated and cherished summer activities on the National Mall, the Screen on the Green film festival, will be brought to you by the Trust for the National Mall along with our partners, HBO and Comcast.
As you may know, Washington came dangerously close to losing Screen on the Green after funding for the activity fell through earlier this spring.

The Woodrow Wilson House is located at 2340 S Street, NW. I happened to stumble upon it during last weekend’s Dupont/Kalorama museum walk. Yeah, I should’ve posted about the museum walk last weekend but I didn’t know about it, I just randomly ran into it! It was pretty sweet though, did anyone else check it out? In front of the Wilson House there was even free coffee.

So about the Wilson House, their Web site says:
“The Woodrow Wilson House is a national historic landmark and house museum that focuses on President Woodrow Wilson’s “Washington Years (1912-1924)”. The museum promotes a greater awareness of Wilson’s public life and ideals for future generations through guided tours, exhibitions and educational programs. The museum also serves as a community preservation model and resource, dedicated to the stewardship and presentation of an authentic collection and property.”
It also bills itself as “Washington’s only Presidential Museum”. That’s pretty interesting in and of itself. So any fans of this spot? Is it a must visit?

There were lots of cool shots of yesterday’s storm added. So I thought I put a few together for today. The one above was taken by ewilfong.

Above is a killer shot from quigley_brown that sent chills down my spine.
