Cantina Marina is located at 600 Water St., SW. I hadn’t been to Cantina Marina in years. Fortunatly my friend decided to have her birthday celebration there last weekend. I absolutely forgot how awesome it is. There is something special about drinking near boats:

I highly recommend this spot. Plus it’s on the Green Line (Waterfront)!

So is there is a better spot to swill some summer drinks in DC?

Sadly there is no swimming…

It’s located near Busboys and Poets at 14th and V Streets, NW. I’m thinking there is a Mao resemblance but that’s not it. A little help?

We’ve seen this one before but I never deny a reader request. And we learn a little bit more info on the bear from this reader:

“I’ve attached a possible Lawn Decoration of the day photo I snapped on 5th and G streets SE. Pretty cool bear, and the owner told me it weighs 600 pounds!”

Ok, it’s not really a garden but my love of banana plants is well known. What I also liked about this shot was the font on “Cleveland Terrace”. It’s got a beautiful 60s vibe going on. I bet folks drink lots of martinis here…

And in less pleasant news.

Back in January we looked at the promising Zizi Boutique. Folks were happy that a cool non bar option had opened on 18th Street in Adams Morgan. Sadly, it was short lived as the store is now closed.

“It wasn’t so long ago that Dr. Dre Constantine found himself on the cold concrete floor of doggy prison. So now that he’s been liberated, he can be excused for lounging about and enjoying the good life on his microsuede sofa a little too much. He’s cool, he’s smooth, and he’d like a cocktail now, please. Vote Dr. Dre!”

“Danny has the perrrfect PoP story. He was born a feral kitten on the hard streets of Petworth, frequenting The House, and living off the scraps of Fish in the Hood. He was set on the path to a life of thuggery and ‘rock throwing,’ even losing part of his left ear in a knife fight over an Eat More Fried Chicken bone. But before it was too late, he was graciously taken in by the warm heart of a Petworth resident. A few weeks later, that resident posted that she was looking for a new home for Danny on one of PoP’s
