It’s very rare that I find condos that qualify for House Porn but this is most definitely one of them. You have to check out the virtual tour. You like the style? It was originally going for $1,275,000 but is now on the market for $1,100,000. Is this some proper condo porn?

Murphy’s is located at 2609 24th St NW. When I lived in Woodley Park this used to be one of my favorite spots. Recently I noticed lots of folks there during the day. So a couple of questions – is the food any good? Second, with Nanny O’Brien’s (in Cleveland Park) under new ownership, is Murphy’s the best Irish bar left in the city?

This is the free bike clinic offered now at Qualia Coffee at 3917 Georgia Ave. NW.

I stopped by last weekend and there was a very friendly vibe going on. It’s just a super cool event that you can get your bike fixed this way. An organizer sent some photos.

“Dear PoP,

I’ve attached a few photos from theBikeHouse bike clinic. We are holding them behind Qualia Coffee on Georgia Avenue on Saturdays between 12 and 3 PM. If you have a problem with your bike, need something installed, or just have a question about your ride, you can come to us and we will walk you through how to fix it. Our goal is to empower you to have the confidence and know-how to successfully perform your own work. At this stage, we do not have parts for sale, so bring any parts you have and we will help you install them for free (although a 5-7 dollar per hour donation is welcomed and encouraged, it is by no means required, ever.)

For more information, please visit www.thebikehouse.org”

I’ve been getting a number of emails that the turf has been installed at the Tubman school located off 11th Street between Irving and Kenyon. Here’s what it looked like a month ago. So how do you think it looks? The photo doesn’t show it that well but there is a big DC flag in the middle with Fenty’s name up top.

But I have some more questions.

I received the following on twitter at 6:30ish Tues. evening:

“police detaining 8 latino men trying to use the unfinished Tubman field”

So was anyone at Wonderland at that time and also saw what happened? Were they actually insisting on playing even after MPD showed up? I’m wondering if they were just told that the field wasn’t finished yet. Were they arrested? When the field is properly finished will people be able to play soccer there like before? Is a turf field like this hard to maintain? Will pick up soccer games destroy it?

I don’t know why but the asterisk really cracked me up. Your captions in the comments and winner announced Friday. Winner gets a free PoP t-shirt (I’m running low so sizes are limited).

Ed. Note: I’m designing the next version of PoP t-shirts so if you have any ideas shoot me an email.

Ed. Note: Speaking of carbonfreedc I officially sold my car Tues. night! Also, you guys had a definite impact on the $20,000 grant – back in July I posted a Dear PoP asking you to vote for carbonfreedc and they won!

Here’s the full press release:

On July 22, CarbonfreeDC won 1 of 5 $20,000 grants from National Geographic and Sun Chips in the Green Effect competition. From over 2,500 entries, CarbonfreeDC’s Extreme Green Neighborhood Makeover proposal won over the judges, even becoming Frito-Lay VP Dave Haft’s favorite submission.

The Extreme Green Neighborhood Makeover aims to help 20 deserving families green their homes and lower their energy bills with energy-efficient upgrades, weatherization, water conserving enhancements and much more. As part of the project, CarbonfreeDC will host educational workshops in the selected neighborhoods to help others take action in their own homes.

CarbonfreeDC is excited to announce the DC neighborhoods of Deanwood and Shaw have been chosen to be a part of the Extreme Green Neighborhood Makeover. Thanks to Pastor and Mrs. Newell of the New Covenant Evangelistic Center and Commissioner Sylvia C. Brown for their compelling nominations that lead to our decision to choose these neighborhoods. Now we will go about the process of choosing 20 deserving homes from these neighborhoods to receive the green makeover treatment.

This truck was sitting on Florida Ave just west of 14th Street, NW. I spoke with the guy in the truck who said he gets the Watermelons from a farm in Greenville, NC. They are $10 a piece but they are gigantic. I just loved the scene.

I really love the color in this one. What are the purple ones called?
