All juveniles under the age of 18 years old are subject to a curfew that begins at 11:00 p.m. on November 1, 2025, until 6:00 a.m. (the following morning), and every night thereafter, ending on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.

From MPD:

“The Metropolitan Police Department is providing an update on the law enforcement response to a large group that engaged in disorderly activity in Navy Yard Friday night.

Beginning around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025, First District officers observed several groups of juveniles converge on the park area between First Street and New Jersey Avenue, Southeast, adjacent to an entrance to the Navy Yard Metro Station. Shortly after 8:00 p.m., the group increased in size to several hundred juveniles. Initially the group was peaceful and did not disrupt the area. As the evening progressed, many of the juveniles within the group began engaging in fights and disrupting the flow of traffic, repeatedly ignoring instructions to remain on sidewalks.

Additional MPD members, and our partners, including Metro Transit Police, United States Capitol Police, the National Guard, and members of the Federal Task Force, responded to the area, closing streets and engaging the group to restore order. MPD and our partners cleared the park area and directed many of the juveniles to the Navy Yard Metro Station.

The group was finally dispersed by approximately 11:00 p.m. MPD and our partners maintained a large presence through the overnight hours to ensure no further unlawful activity occurred.

First District officers made five arrests related to this activity, including: (more…)

From the Nationals:

“The Washington Nationals officially named Blake Butera the eighth manager in team history on Friday. Today’s announcement was made by Nationals President of Baseball Operations Paul Toboni.

“I’ve always believed that you win with people, and from our very first conversation, it was clear that Blake is the right person and the right leader for this role,” said Toboni. “Blake comes into this position with experience in a variety of roles in player development, including as a successful manager, making him uniquely qualified to get the most out of the players in the clubhouse and help us reach the next level. He possesses a strong baseball acumen and has a reputation for building strong relationships with players and staff, making him a great fit for us in Washington, D.C. We’re so excited to welcome him to the Nationals family.”

“Dear PoPville,

1912 rowhome and have had issues with main sewer line clogging, backing up, and a little flooding over the past 3 years. Root cleaner twice a year has worked until now, and I spent $1.5K on hydro jetting, which cleared the pipes for a few weeks. I know I have a front yard tree that may have roots getting in, but the hydro jetting said they didn’t see damage nor was the clog far enough where the tree is, so I’m really at a loss of what the issue is.

Are my options replacing the entire sewer line or would pipe relining be an option?

Do you have any recommendations for plumbers and amount spent? Many thanks!”

“Dear PoPville,

I don’t know what other recourse I have, so I’m hoping to warn fellow Dupont dog neighbors. I was walking my (very much leashed and well behaved) dog on Corcoran St, in between New Hampshire and 17th, when a white cat with grey/brown spots ran from its yard and starting attacking my dog. My dog didn’t fight back, she just started crying and trying to escape. I had to use my foot to remove the cat (I did not at all hurt the cat) but it continued to chase us about 30 feet down the block. The cat jumped on my dog at least 5 times. (more…)
