Joey first sent word around 11pm last night (Tuesday):

“About 15-30 shots fired in Columbia Heights, sounds like around 14th St. between Harvard and Columbia. At least one vehicle seemingly drove away with a flat tire. Not sure if they were involved.”

Others responded: “I’m at 14th and Girard and the street is closed as well as the alley to Harvard street, bullet casings on the road. Heard at least 10-15 shots fired right at 11pm.”

“Yup. I hear them, too. A bunch of shots . It stopped. Then a few more.

“Dear PoPville,

The classic Easterns jingle has been part of DMV culture for decades, and we recently remixed it with DC Go-Go legends Junkyard Band to celebrate both the legacy of the jingle and 50 years of Go-Go in DC. To mark the moment, we’re hosting a free community Go-Go concert on April 12.

We’re celebrating 50 years of Go-Go and DMV culture by remaking the classic Easterns jingle with Junkyard Band. We’re also collaborating with Capital City Mambo Sauce to debut a commemorative mambo sauce bottle for the event. The celebration will be hosted by DJ Flexx at our Easterns Automotive Group location in Laurel.

It will be a free, family friendly community event with food, entertainment, and more.”

And had it been implemented differently this could’ve been an actual game changer. But for those who weren’t here in those days, the Streetcar buzz absolutely injected excitement and more life and certainly had an impact on H Street, NE’s revival. But there were troubles. OH there were troubles. But no need to kick someone when they’re down. So Streetcar – Farewell. Many miles of words were typed about you. You WILL be remembered. And who knows, maybe one day… (more…)
