Thanks to Andrew for sending: “Came across a mama raccoon and her three babies in Foxhall Village this morning. The little ones decided to waddle right up to me (whether to play or just investigate, I’m not sure) which I took as my cue to give them some space and move along.” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
A close colleague (and friend) recently passed away. He was very instrumental in ag policy and green space revitalization and protection. We would like to plant a tree in his memory. Anyone know who we can talk to at Urban Forestation at DDOT or NPS to make this a reality?”
Has anyone ever done something like this before? What were the steps you took to make it a reality?

“Dear PoPville,
I was wondering if anyone knows why DC police were stopping random cars just past the Taft bridge going towards Dupont late Tuesday afternoon? I saw an officer standing in the middle of the road waving random cars over to a stop point… a few police vehicles nearby.”

From the Washington Commanders:
“The Washington Commanders are building a new world-class stadium and mixed-use entertainment district at the former RFK Stadium site in Washington, D.C. Designed by HKS Architects, this project represents one of the most significant sports and entertainment developments currently underway in North America.
This RFI seeks information about existing or previously deployed AI capabilities and approaches for creating cutting-edge experiences at state-of-the-art venues from firms at the forefront of artificial intelligence, experience design, venue operations, and fan engagement technology. Our objective is to understand how leading-edge companies envision the next generation of the stadium and district experience, one that is fundamentally shaped by AI, across the full spectrum of fan engagement, building operations, and commercial activation.
We are not seeking traditional technology proposals. We are seeking information from firms that can help us imagine what becomes possible when a $3.8B+ stadium and the surrounding district are conceived, designed, and operated with AI as a foundational capability rather than a bolt-on feature.

Thanks to Tyler for sending the new signage out front of Haru wok & roll coming to the old Mr. Chen’s space any day now!
ICYMI and who are we kidding, unless you are signed up for our free daily newsletter roundup, or directly come to the site compulsively like it’s 2010, well the algorithm ain’t showing you the new restaurants coming to Cleveland Park (and elsewhere). I AM NOT FRUSTRATED AT ALL.
Ah I feel better now – OK then that peek inside: (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Is it just me or is Capital Bikeshare trying to charge others for lost bikes it mistakenly says were not docked?
In my case, it turns out the dock was ‘off line’ when my bike was docked and Capital Bikeshare had no record of it – until I found the bike ( with serial number) still in the dock 2 days later and sent a photo to prove the problem is with its system.”
