Why are there so many Cowboys fans in DC? One thing I’ve always liked about DC is how the whole city rallies around the Redskins. I’ve always found it odd that there are so many fans of the Redskins rivals in DC. Any explanations?

Thanks to a reader for alerting me to this event.  She will be speaking about her new book, Out of the Frying Pan, tomorrow night from 6-8pm at the Culture Shop located at 341 Cedar Street, NW.

From the press release: “Plenty of good conversation and delicious food to sample. The community’s own, Gillian Clark, looks forward to sharing her passion with you. Her book is available for purchase at the Culture Shop’s online bookstore.”

This comes from a reader in the forum section:

We’re looking to buy in or around Petworth, and naturally we have gathered that there are some areas that are quieter and safer than others. We spend time in the neighborhood and have done our research, but I’d really like to know the point of view of the people who live here. What streets and areas reflect the best of Petworth, and are there places that we should avoid?”

For that matter, what streets and areas would you recommend to live in Columbia Heights as well? Just curious.

You see a sight like this makes me believe that simply placing more garbage cans on our main streets would make a big difference. People aren’t just throwing their trash on the ground in this instance, they are actually taking the time to place it in a light pole. Damn it, whoever can get us more trash cans on the street, get us more trash cans on the street. Please.

I’ve never, ever, seen a sign like this before. This is in 14th St. Heights. Who put the sign up?
