Another nice paint job on this one. So what’s up with the turrets? Is that storage space or is just a high ceiling? I’ve noticed many row houses actually have faux turrents, you can see some of them are completely flat from behind.

I wonder if it was the inspiration for the Spy vs. Spy graphic or vice versa. But what I really wonder is do Neighborhood Watch Areas really exist in DC? I wonder what designates an area as such. While I think it is a very good idea, do you think the signs act as a deterrent to potential criminals?

This almost looks like Jerusalem stone. Pretty neat. When completed do you think it will fit in with the more traditional brick homes on the block?

This should probably be in the Smithsonian somewhere but I was stunned to see it just sitting on a curb. Abs by Jake of course is from one of the greatest infomericals ever next to that rotisserie chicken thing by Ron Popeil. As I was marveling at this modern day work of art, a guy walks right up and takes it right in front of my eyes! That guy is going to have some pretty sick abs. Well truth be known I’d rather find one of those rotisserie chicken things.

If you have an electric toothbrush that takes batteries, put fresh batteries in and put on a new brush.  Man, it is like going to the dentist.  Very nice.

Thanks to a reader for sending me this photo. As you can see there are a number of trash bags piled in the back alley behind the Loftstel. Clearly they are not in a proper receptacle which is just asking for rodents of all kinds. C’mon Loftstel you have to be a better neighbor than this…

Here is another nice photo (if I do say so myself) of new condos overshadowing old school row houses. The condo is the new PN Hoffman building on 14th St.

Now since I recently turned 33 I haven’t been going to playgrounds as frequently as I have last year. My knees are starting to hurt a bit. And I get really funny looks. But I stumbled upon a dope sky playground on Westminster Street just off of 9th Street, NW. If you are under 33 or have little children it is imperative that you check it out. It is not a huge playground but it is surrounded by beauty. There is this phenomenal mural and other pieces of art scattered throughout. Check out more photos after the jump. (more…)

The Express reported today that a new restaurant is opening in the Brightwood neighborhood. The article states: “A new restaurant opening next Tuesday, however, will give Brightwood and adjacent neighborhoods in Ward 4 a gathering place close to home. The place is Meridian Restaurant and Bar, which will be a ground-level anchor for the new Brightwood Lofts.” Read the rest of the article here.
