From AlertDC: “The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for the District of Columbia until 9:00 PM”

Update: Thanks to Kelly for passing on from OPM:

“08/07: Federal offices in the DC area are OPEN but have a staggered early departure with the option for unscheduled leave. Employees must depart by 3:00 PM at which time Federal offices are closed.”

Updates when/if more guidance is issued.


From DPR:

“The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) has released the outdoor aquatic facilities’ closures schedule for the 2023 summer season. Outdoor pools will close in waves beginning on Sunday, August 6, 2023 and ending on Monday, September 4, 2023. Pools will close for the season at 6 p.m. on their respective day.

All spray parks will close for the season at 8 p.m. on Monday, September 4, 2023.

“Dear PoPville,

I signed a BINDING not to exceed estimate with a broker (didn’t advertise themselves as such but here we are). The total was not to exceed $1782 which I was to pay in 3 increments- one as a deposit, one at pick up, and one at delivery. The broker then subcontracted the job. The day they were to arrive I called bc they were late, they said sorry it’ll be another hour. Ok, np. Then they called back and said their truck broke down but they could be there the next day. It was a hassle but what are you going to do. (more…)
