This Weekend’s Street Closures for Taste of DC, IMF/World Bank Meeting and Law Enforcement 5K

“The Metropolitan Police Department would like to advise the public and members of the media of the following street closures in connection with events scheduled this weekend including the Taste of DC, International Monetary Fund/World Bank Complex, and the National Law Enforcement Run to Remember 5K.

Taste of DC

The Taste of DC is a culinary and cultural event scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2013 through Sunday, October 13, 2013 in the heart of Washington, D.C. This expansive festival hosts some of the area’s restaurants, libations, and lively entertainment.

The following street closures start on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 12:00 am, and will remain closed until Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 11:00 pm:

Pennsylvania Avenue, NW will be closed between 9th Street and 14th Street, NW
13th Street, NW between E Street, NW and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
12th Street, NW between E Street, NW and Constitution Avenue, NW
11th Street, NW between E Street, NW and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
10th Street, NW between E Street, NW and Constitution Avenue, NW

International Monetary Fund/World Bank Complex

Street closures for the IMF/World Bank Complex will begin on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 10:00 pm, and will remain closed until Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 5:00 pm.

Emergency No Parking signs will be posted at the following locations from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm:

18th Street, NW and G Street, NW to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
19th Street, NW and G Street, NW to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
20th Street, NW and G Street, NW to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
G Street, NW and 18th Street, NW to 20th Street, NW
H Street, NW (south side) and 18th Street, NW to 20th Street, NW
Pennsylvania Avenue, NW (south side) from 18th and 20th Street, NW

National Law Enforcement Run to Remember 5K

The National Law Enforcement Run to Remember is designed to celebrate and bring awareness to the role of law enforcement in our communities. Net proceeds benefit the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

On Sunday, October 13, 2013, the 400 block of F Street, NW will be closed from 4:00 am to 11:00 am. The following streets will be closed from 7:15 am to 8:30 am:

· Start in the 400 block of F Street, NW

· East on F Street, NW to 3rd Street, NW

· South on 3rd Street, NW to Independence Avenue, SW

· East on Independence Avenue, SW to 2nd Street, SW

· North on 2nd Street, SW to East Capitol Street, SW

· West on East Capitol Street, SW to First Street, SW

· South on First Street, SW to Independence Avenue, SW

· West on Independence Avenue, SW to 3rd Street, NW

· North on 3rd Street, NW to F Street, NW (disband)

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
