“Triple shooting – 1100 Blk 1st place NW – 1 priority 1 & 2 priority 2 all traumas potentially life threatening”

Ed. Note: On March 19th there was a double shooting at this location and on June 6th there was another double shooting at this location.

UPDATE from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a shooting in which 4 victims were struck by gunfire in the 1100 block of 1st Street, NW. Three of the victims suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds and one victim was fatally wounded.

On Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at approximately 11:56 pm, officers from the First District responded to the area of 1100 block of 1st Street, NW for the sounds of gunshots. Upon their arrival, they located an unconscious adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in the 100 block of Pierce Street, NW. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced.

Three additional victims were located. An adult male was located in the 1100 block of 1st Street, NW suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the lower body. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment. A second adult male was located in the 100 block of Pierce Street, NW suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. A third victim, an adult male who suffered from a gunshot wound to the forearm, was transported to an area hospital by a friend.

The decedent is identified as 32 year-old Delonta Hendrix of Northwest, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
