2 Men Shot in the Head in Trinidad, One Killed

MPD wrote this morning:

“This morning, Saturday, December 22, 2012, at about 1:45 am, 5D officers were called to a scene in the 1100 block of Bladensburg Road, NE, for a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the men was lifeless at the scene. The second man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

At this point we have no further information to release, but we ask that anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area at that time please call 727-9099 to report it.”

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a double shooting in the 1100 block of Bladensburg Road, Northeast, in which an adult male has died of his injuries.

On Saturday, December 22, 2012, at approximately 1:44 am, members of the Fifth District responded to a call for the report of a shooting in the 1100 block of Bladensburg Road, Northeast. Upon their arrival, members located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds lying in the roadway. Members of the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services treated the victim who had no signs consistent with life. He was transported to the DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner pending an autopsy.

The decedent is identified as 44-year-old Raymond Harris of Northwest, Washington, DC.

Fifth District members also located a second adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds in a vehicle in 1100 block of Bladensburg Road, Northeast. The second victim was transported to a local hospital and admitted in critical condition.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.

Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
