I’m really really looking forward to this – I hope it works out as well as I’m thinking it can. So, this is gonna be a very flexible new series. The idea is, basically, to get to know your neighbors a bit. It doesn’t have to be a direct neighbor, it can just be someone on your block or who lives nearby. It can be an old neighbor, a new neighbor, someone you’ve known a while or someone you’ve never met before. You can ask them anything you want – how long they’ve lived in the neighborhood, their job, what they love about the neighborhood, what changes they’ve seen in the neighborhood, their favorite restaurant… anything at all. There is also no length requirement. It can be two sentences or two paragraphs – totally up to you. But please include a photo if at all possible. When you send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail please put “Know Your Neighbor” in the subject line and include your neighborhood in the text of the email. If the turnout is good I’ll make this a daily or weekly series.

And to start things off – the folks from Thievery Corporation have been kind enough to give away a few tickets to their upcoming show at the Fairgrounds Sept. 15th. So the first three entrants will win a pair of tickets to the show.

I’m looking forward to getting to know your neighbors a bit – hope you are too!

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
