3 Homicides Over the Weekend

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating three homicides that occurred over the weekend.

On Saturday, July 7, 2012, at approximately 9:50 pm units from the Sixth District responded to the 5300 block of Ames Street, NE for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they located two adult males suffering from stab wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital where one victim was admitted for treatment. The other victim succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead.

The decedent is identified as 20 year-old Charles Anthony Scott Jr. of Northeast, Washington, DC.

On Saturday, July 7, 2012, at approximately 10:38 pm units from the Third District responded for the report of a shooting in the 1700 block of 7th Street, NW. Upon arrival, they located an adult male who was unconscious and unresponsive suffering from a gunshot wound. A second adult male victim, suffering from a gunshot wound, was located near 7th Street and Rhode Island Avenue, NW. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and did not find any signs of life for the first victim who was pronounced dead by a member of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The second victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

The decedent is identified as 30 year-old Michael Edward Jones of Northwest, Washington, DC.

On Sunday, July 8, 2012 at approximately 12:04 am members of the Seventh District responded to the 1700 block of Galen Street, SE for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located an adult male victim unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Personnel from DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined there were no signs of life. The victim was later pronounced dead by a member of the Office of Chief Medical Examiner. A second victim was located in the 2300 block of Green Street, SE with multiple gunshot wounds and was transported by personnel from DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital for treatment.

The decedent has been identified as 22-year-old Davon Brown of Southeast, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
